Customer Review: Loud but illogical user interface

It has three volume levels:
70 decibels (Vacuum)
90 decibels (Lawnmower with engine)
120 decibels (Chainsaw with engine at full throttle)
The sound resembles a smoke alarm (at all three levels).
The user interface is...unique. It's not difficult, I just can't figure out why they made and programmed it this way.
It has a "pre-alarm". The pre-alarm goes off 10 and 5 minutes before the real alarm. There is no way to turn off this "feature".
You set the alarm, the alarm goes off, you turn off the alarm, and then that is where the alarm is set for the next day. So let's say you set the alarm for 7:00 am. The pre-alarm goes off at 6:50 am, and you turn off the alarm (not just hit the sleep button). Your alarm is now set for 6:50 am, not 7:00 am anymore. You have to set the alarm for 7:10 am, and turn it off (not just hit the sleep button) when the alarm goes off at 7:00 am to keep the alarm set at 7:00 am.
Why couldn't they just label the buttons on the front instead of using pictures?
Odd design and programming decisions.
