Customer Review: Mini DVI port or Mini Display port?

BE CAREFUL!
I'm sure this item works fine but it does not fit my computer's port. I have a new macbook unibody which has the smaller MINI DISPLAY PORT. The older black or white macbooks have the larger MINI DVI PORT. Even by looking at the picture I couldn't tell which was which and so I took a chance and got it wrong. I now have to order a MINI DISPLAY PORT to HDMI for my computer.
NOTE: There is also a third size port: the MICRO DVI port which I believe is for the macbook air although it looks like the new airs have the MINI DESPLAY port according to apple.com.

I HAVE A BLACK MAC BOOK (YEAR 2007) MODEL (RUNNING LATEST SNOW LEOPARD OS) WITH A MINI-DVI OUTPUT. I CAN NOW USE MY 50" PANASONIC PLASMA 1080P AS A COMPUTER MONITOR.
I LOOKED AT OTHER PRODUCTS THAT ARE CONVERTING BOXES ETC. FOR HUNDREDS. THIS IS ALL YOU NEED IF YOU DON'T HAVE VGA INPUT OR WISH TO USE HDMI INPUT.
YOU GET THE SHORT WHITE CORD THAT IS THE MINI-DVI TO HDMI AND THEN YOU ALSO GET A 6 FOOT HDMI CABLE.
IF YOU HAVE A BLUETOOTH MOUSE AND/OR KEYBOARD THEN YOU'RE READY TO ROCK-N-ROLL!

I'm going to keep this simple. For 20.00 you can hook up your late model MAC (MacBook in my case) to your flatscreen. You do not need to get mini-dvi to dvi to HDMI as most of the forums recommend. Get this and I personally got the 10ft HDMI cable and set up the television as a dual monitor setup. Very Cool. If you have surround sound I would recommend getting the Toslink to optical mini-adapter as it is super easy to hook up your mac to surround sound also. It actually sounds better than cable and DVD's in my opinion. BTW, this item is plug and play. I did not have to set up anything software wise.Customer Review: Works for older Macs, with additional cable for audio

Works perfectly for the mini-dvi ports on Macbooks purchased prior to fall 2008. If your computer is more recent, you have the mini display port, and need a different cable. Also, before purchasing be sure that your HDTV has an RCA (the red and white audio jacks) input associated with one of the HDMI inputs. DVI does not carry audio, so you'll have to buy a separate Y-cable for sound.
Knocked the product down a couple of stars because the mini-dvi end doesn't "lock in" tightly to the Macbook, and it is easy to briefly lose the signal to the tv if you accidentally nudge your computer.

I have been having issues with my Macbook lately, every time I try to plug in the mini dvi to dvi my screen would blink blue/white and I would never get a picture on my monitor. I decided to try this mini dvi to hdmi adapter and it works! I am very happy I purchased this item and now I don't have to deal with the blue/white blinking screen. Remember this adapter is for older models of the Macbook, they use mini display port's now and this is a mini dvi. Also the hdmi cable that it comes with works great, I even tried on my xbox 360 and it works. I will update this review if the cable shorts out.
