Customer Review: Adaptor Does Not Work
Summary: 1 Stars

DO NOT BUY. I did not believe the other people who wrote that. This adaptor does not work at all.
SOLUTION: use the original Mac made Mini DVI to standard DVI. Then get a reputable adaptor Standard DVI to HDMI cord.

It looks like a Mini DVI plug but the metal part is not the correct shape and does not make the connection properly on the older macbook or mac mini. This results in absolutely NO transmission of signal. Poorly made adaptor on the female end as well as the metal pulls out from the plastic when HDMI cord is removed. The adaptor is completely worthless and seems a risk to break the mini DVI connector on the computer. The HDMI cord is fine however so it is not a total loss.

This problem came up when my new TV showed up without a VGA input. I guess those are becoming obsolete. None of those Mini DVI to HDMI appear to be made be reputable company. Try the above solution.

Customer Review: Good Quality, but very tight fit
Summary: 4 Stars

The overall build quality of the adapter and HDMI cord is good, just a few clicks short of Apple OEM quality.
The picture quality is what you would expect of HDMI. I notice a slightly better quality over the S-Video cable adapter I have been using. The HDMI cable was HDMI 1.3 so there is two way communication between the devices. My Philips TV showed up in the Display settings on the Mac. But you will still need to use the audio out jack to get your sound to your TV or receiver. This is a limitation of the Mac's Mini-DVI output.

The one major concern I have with this item would be the snugness of the fit into the port on my MacBook. I need to put a lot of pressure to get it in and out. This could cause wear and tear on the MacBook connector over time. When compared side-by-side to an Apple Mini-DVI connector, it is actually a hair smaller.

Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.

Customer Review: worked brilliantly to connect macbook to tv
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this adapter to connect my white dec 2008 macbook to my 2009 sony bravia xbr hdtv. The mini dvi to hdmi adapter connects to the included 6 ft hdmi cable which then connects to the hdmi slot in the tv (mine had to go into hdmi slot 1 to work. You also have to use an audio cable which goes into the matching l and r audio for the hdmi slot.
I then went to system preferences on the macbook and chose displays, after scanning help I chose to do the mirror display but I think there are a number of options. I think it was control and F1 that quickly got the mirror display - so the tv shows exactly what the mac screen does.
I used the cable with the audio cable to see streaming video on the tv - the quality was amazing - better than the hdtv channels. This cable is a fantastic price and works great for me. Just be sure the connectors are all pushed together tightly.

Customer Review: Absolutely Awesome!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Short and sweet: This cable is awesome! I hooked up my 13" MacBook to my Sony TV via the HDMI port and it looks awesome! I have the audio routed through my Bose soundsystem and this is a great way to watch NetFlix movies, news broadcasts, and YouTube videos. I recommend that if you have an Apple iTouch or iPhone you also download the Air Mouse application ($0.99) and this allows you to control your MacBook using Bluetooth: this allows you to type and navigate your computer from a great distance - great for controlling your movie playback from the comfort of your couch. I ordered the cable on Monday and got it on Friday (standard shipping). I would recommend this to ANYONE with a MacBook - I don't know how I lived with watching NetFlix on my tiny 13" screen before!

Customer Review: did not work for 2008 iMac
Summary: 1 Stars

After a TV upgrade, I needed to replace my DVI to S video converter with DVI to HDMI, so I purchased this. The plug that goes into the Mac was a very tight fit compared to the Apple brand model I replaced, making me concerned for the connectors. The iMac acted as if the cable was being plugged and unplugged over and over again, switching to the TV display resolution for a half second, then switching back to normal resolution with no DVI output. The problem was obviously related to the connection to the iMac, and did not work even when applying force to hold the adapter tightly in place. As far as I'm concerned, this is a piece of junk too inexpensive to make it worth returning. I am placing order for Apple brand connector.
