Customer Review: Abacus cables- COMPLICATED

I purchased the female video adapter and the hdmi cable from the ABACUS store on amazon. The product itself worked. It functions, but after the first week, I noticed that some parts were cracking.
But the WORST part of this whole ordeal was this...
First, they sent me someone else's package.
Then when I let them know, they sent me the female adapter, after about a week. But they forgot the HDMI cable. That took another week.
Then, they told me to return the first package they sent to me on mistake, and told me that I would be reimbursed of delivery fees.
It's been over a month, and unless I am mistaken, I have yet to be reimbursed.
Getting the cables that I purchased actually took about 2-3 weeks...
and on top of that, the complications were too much for one small purchase.
They're good about customer service-- in that they return emails promptly. And they're very friendly in their emails. But besides the words, they're not responsible about taking action.
Overall, this was the most complicated order that I've had to deal with.

I have ordered discount audio and video components from China with some varied results. There have been times when an iPod connected to a Bose sound system via an 1/8 inch audio cable can't even reach above certain volume due to the poor quality of the cable.
This is definitely not one of those instances. The quality was not lost whatsoever going from my computer to the television via this adapter. My father-in-law has the same adapter and paid over 3 times as much as I did, and there is absolutely no difference in the video quality.
Please be aware, however, of the adapter's limits. If you are planning to use this adapter to connect your Mac directly to a tv, it will work great on the VIDEO, but there will be NO AUDIO. The Macs that have the mini-DVI port do not have digital audio, so it cannot be converted through the HDMI. I simply connect my Mac to the TV for great quality video, and then plug my Mac into a speaker system for audio. Works great for me!

Very simple and exactly as advertised. The rep at Best Buy sold me a minidisplay port to hdmi adapter when I told him I had a Macbook and when I came home, I found out it didn't fit in my computer. So just make sure you are absolutely positive whether you have a mini dvi port or a mini display port. Also to my dismay, I found out it only cost me around $20 for both an hdmi cord and the adapter cord on here, where as I had just spent $85 dollars at Best Buy for the two. So I returned both cables to Best Buy and purchased this. It arrived, I plugged it into my computer and my tv, and it immediately worked perfectly and I was extremely happy to see that the picture on my tv screen looked much better than the picture on my Mac. Great product and simple to use, I would recommend this to anyone who has a Macbook with a mini dvi port.
Just one thing. If anyone could give me advice on how to make the sound come from my tv and not my Macbook, I would greatly appreciate it.

Ok, this particular cable may not be the future: but the concept is. Once you hook up your laptop to your tv (in my case a 46 inch z series sony) you will want to cancel your cable and save your money for the internet. With hulu and netflix coming through sweet there's no reason to wait for stuff to come on when you don't want to watch it (like on cable). Hulu has a 480p option and it looks great. Netflix looks great too. This connection set up will make you wonder why people spend [...] bucks on a computer screen when they can use their existing hdtv instead. It also allows you the option (through the system preferences menu) to use the TV as either the computer screen or as a SECONDARY screen. My computer: a November 2007 Macbook. No firmware or software required; it's plug and play. Delivery was on time and product as described (cable came in black though--big deal!). Will recommend to any older Macbook owner (not sure if it works on the new ones).Customer Review: Mini-DVI to HDMI

I had my doubts about this cable when I first saw it. First off the price seemed way to low to be true and I thought that the cable might break as soon as I used it. It also comes with a HDMI cable which go for around $20. When I actually got it though, I was surprised that it worked and is still in good shape, 3 months after I bought it. It works wonderfully and as long as you know a little about macs, its easy to figure out how to set it up and get it working. The one thing I would like to remind you, is that most people I know think that this cable also transits sound, it does not. It is purely video so if you want to transmit sound as well you need a separate cable. The HDMI cable is good quality and worked really well. It made all those afternoons watching anime on my HDTV from my macbook really enjoyable. I'd say if you want to enjoy movies or games on your TV from your computer then I would highly recommend this.
