Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of 6ft Toslink to Mini Toslink Cable

Customer Review: Works as it should, definetely worth the small amount of money.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this miny toslink to Optical ('Toslink') because I have a Extremegamer 7.1 soundcard that has the mini toslink out to optical, and I have the Logitech z5500 5.1 speaker system. I wasnt getting the sound quality out of the analog outputs. I really wanted to clean up the muddy-ness of the mids when the speakers are turned up 50% and this optical connection did it. It takes heavy metal or opera and 70to80% speaker crankage to get muddyness in it. Noticable highs are more acute, and the bass is a bit tighter and more responsive.
I recommend this product. Make sure if you have the option between sources, your receiver is set to Optical and not Analog or whatever., as well as your soundcards interface.

Customer Review: Using this to hook up my laptop to my Denon receiver
Summary: 5 Stars

After finding out my laptop's "headphone" port also supported SPDIF, which apparently meant mini-toslink, I decided to give my sound system a quick 3 dollar upgrade.

It came in a little baggie and the build quality was good. I'm not positive if the quality is better than the normal auxiliary cable I was using, but I assume the optical = digital = better adage stands in this scenario.

Bottom line: useful for hooking up your laptop/mp3player/etc with SPDIF or mini-toslink optical out to your receiver with a normal optical in. Great price as well.

Customer Review: Wrong size
Summary: 3 Stars

I probalby shouldn't rate this a 3 because if it were the right size it would be fine. And it's likely my fault for not knowing what the crud I'm doing. I need to connect a sound bar to my Philips LCD TV that doesn't have audio out jacks for some dumb reason. So i'm trying to use the SPDIF jack instead. I bought this adapter, thinking it would do the trick, but the end that goes into the TV (which is the male end) is too big. Are there different sizes of mini adapters? I would love someone to help me out here. I've had this soundbar for 2 months and am unable to use it.

Customer Review: Does a true Toslink to Mini Toslink cable exist?
Summary: 1 Stars

Today I received my second normal, run-of-the-mill optical cable with a normal, run-of-the-mill toslink plug on both ends. Why is this significant? Because this is the second time I have ordered a cable that "claimed" to have a normal toslink on one end and a mini-toslink on the other. The picture of each cable even showed a mini-toslink on one end, but alas, the cable itself has none. Does the ellusive mini-toslink plug actually exist or is it just a myth? I do not know, but I am done paying shipping charge in order to find out. Beware of the picture...it lies.

Customer Review: Reasonably Practical Solution
Summary: 5 Stars

Last night I wrestled with plugging the cable into the digital speaker and the laptop unsuccessfully. However, after a fresh restart this morning, the sound was reproduced amazingly digitally. DTS Audio and MS Pro Audio do not work though probably due to the speaker limitation of which I don't mind. The sound quality has its weird echo but tweaking the settings might resole such a minor issue.

Overall, I am very pleased with the simple connectivity without having had to pass through digital receiver.
