Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of PNY P-FD1GBATT2-FS 1GB Attache USB 2.0 Flash DriveCustomer Review: Incredibly fast backup Summary: 5 Stars
I've bought 2 of these 1gb USB 2.0 Flash Drives made by PNY and I'm absolutely blown away by how fast and simple it is to back up data. And inexpensive too. Previously I was backing up to high density (240mb) 3.5" disks in a portable drive which had cost $200 and I could go make a cup of coffee while it backed up my Quicken data file which is about 15mgbs. This little gizmo from PNY for about $15 backs up the same file in less than 10 seconds and how easy and simple it is. Just plug into a USB port and your PC recognizes it immediately as another drive. Unreal!
Customer Review: Good and easy Summary: 5 Stars
I've had one of these babies living in my pants pocket for most of a year, commuting from home to work, plugging into a PC and a mac, shuttling important data back and forth. It works fine, fits into tight spaces without getting in the way of other plug ins, and has a nice little red LED light that tells me when it's "thinking." Other flash drives have gimmicks or weird shapes. This one is nice and simple and works great. Other reviewers who broke theirs must have been playing hockey with them. I'm here to buy another PNY, this time with more memory.
Customer Review: Not bad for the price Summary: 4 Stars
I read others' reviews of this drive after placing my order. I was worried that it would be DOA or break soon after receiving it. I am pleased to say that it has worked flawlessly now for several months. The case is still intact even though it feels kinda cheap. I have to say, I am not very hard on things like this. If it is not stuck in my USB port, it is in my pocket.
Overall, I like this Flash Drive. However, I back it up and don't trust it to always be working. I would do the same even if I paid 3 or 4 times for another drive.
Customer Review: Garbage. Summary: 1 Stars
Search online for this thing's issues, and you'll see that it tends to get borked. Borked hard. I just had someone come into my computer lab where I've been working for a few years. The drive she brought in, that was brand new, that was JUST working yesterday, is fried. Hard. Computers no longer recognise it. Tried it on three different PCs, an iBook, and a G5. No dice. Go to the PNY website to see that there's no way to contact them to tell them what kind of garbage they're selling. Do NOT waste your money on this. Get a decent product.
Customer Review: Low memory capacity Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this drive and it only is capable of 580MB of storage. I noticed the little * on the packaging and read the fine print. It indicates the memory space may be less than stated. 40% reduction (400MB) seems a little excessive and I am going to return it and try another. I have some competitors usb flash memory, a 256MB and a 512MB, and both seem to be close to the stated amount. The 1 star rating is based entirely on memory content as I have not been able to really use it for what I needed to test anything else (like packaging).
