Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of PNY 32 GB Class 4 SDHC Flash Memory Card P-SDHC32G4-EFCustomer Review: Neither of my 32GB cards worked with Canon Vixia Camcorder Summary: 2 Stars
I bought a 32GB PNY card in December from an Amazon vendor (J&R) for use in my Canon Vixia HF200 video camera that requires a Class 4 speed to record in HD. While the Canon camera indicates that the card has been intialized and formatted, it will not recognize that there are any minutes available to record. After spending a lot of time calling PNY support , emailing them and using their web site to find out if I could make this work, they told me to download a formatter from a Matsushita web site. After formatting and reformatting, quick formatting, full formatting and formatting with complete writeover using this software and various PCs, it always had the same result.
I can drag and drop files from a pc onto the card, but it will not record on the video camera, which appears to see the card as "full" with no available storage. I currently use a Transcend 32 GB Class 6 card and a Kingston 32 GB Class 4 card in this same camera with no issuses whatsoever.
I eventually requested a replacement through PNY warranty and received it this week. It performs exactly the same as the one I returned. VERY FRUSTRATING. I bought a $2 usb card reader that lets me use this as a very expensive USB flash drive. I am going to ask PNY to replace this second card or at least explain if it is a known issue that it will not work on a Canon Vixia HD camera.
Unfortunately, it was not until 30 days after I received this card that the card in the camera filled up and I went to use this as a replacement. After calling J&R I was told I could return it even after I mentioned that it was an opened blister pack and their return policy said only unopened packages could be returned up to 30 days after receipt. Though I was assured I could return this, since it was literally on the 30th and last day of their return period (from the time I received it) I did not want to risk that the story would be different after I sent it in and a restocking fee or some such problem would arise and that is why I went through PNY warranty. When will I learn to only buy from Amazon directly as that is the only way one can get a complete refund for defective mechandise without paying shipping and restocking fees?
I give the PNY 32 GB SDHC two stars because it at least works as a USB flash drive in a card reader and is not totally dead.
Customer Review: PNY 32gb Class 4 SDHC Great value memory card! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for use with my Nokia N800 internet tablet. Mine came formatted as one FAT32 partition with a formatted capacity of 30.37GB. I loaded 28.5GB of music on mine using a USB 2.0 card reader and it took ~9+ hours to copy everything. Class 4 refers to the guaranteed WRITE speed which I wasn't completely concerned about since I was primarily intending to play my music from it and that is a READ function. This card has worked great for me and I would purchase another.
Customer Review: Works like a champ! Summary: 5 Stars
I got this card for my new canon hf100 HD camcorder. I got about 4.5 hours of full HD video on the card.
Moved the video in the evening onto a spare HD, popped it back in, no problems.
I was a little worried - I had some issues with PNY graphics cards in the past, but this product worked without a problem. I was also worried because it was class 4 SDHC, which was lowest speed recommended for my camera, but all the video turned out great.
Customer Review: Excellent! Summary: 5 Stars
I have a treo 650 and a treo 700p and this works great in them! The awesome thing is that now, with pocket tunes I can carry around 32 GIGs with me at all times! That's not quite all of my music but it's a very good portion. The only issue with this card is that it's a little slow, but what do you expect when you copy 28 gigs of music to a flash card?
Customer Review: 32GB in Canon HF100 Summary: 5 Stars
No problems in about 5 months with the Canon HF100 camcorder.
But be sure to note-- ALL the SDHC cards will *require* an SDHC card reader. They will NOT work in an older SD card reader. (that includes this card, although it's not a fault with the card-- it's the SDHC standard).
