Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Philips USA PH-62050 CD/MP3/MD-To-Cassette AdapterCustomer Review: Good solution Summary: 3 Stars
If you are on a budget, don't have an aux output, then this is a great solution to using your ipod/iphone/mp3 etc in the car. I will be upgrading to a fully integrated ipod system in the future, but for now this is great. Good construction (cassettes were never hune from granite) good price, but the sound quality isn't that great. What do you expect? You're using a cassette! But i'm happy with this purchase and would recommend this product. I give a 3 star rating due to the sound quality... but i am a sound snob to a certain extent, but i can live with it.
Customer Review: totally awesome Summary: 5 Stars
I have never used my cassette deck in my 2004 Jetta and I am the original owner. Now I use it to play MP3s, use Google Navigator and make hands free calls on my HTC Incredible. Sound quality is actually better (freq resp) than the cheap VW CD player that comes with the Monsoon premium amp and speaker package. No problems with autoreverse. Converts your useless obsolete tape deck into a line-in for anything with a miniplug: phone, mp3 player, laptop/netbook, digital voice recorder, you name it. I love this thing. now i don't have to buy a new stereo.
Customer Review: Lasted about 3 years for me Summary: 4 Stars
Cassette adapters are definitely better than FM adapters if you want to plug in your mp3 player to a car that doesn't have an aux line-out. Mine has worked perfectly for about three years now, until recently when it got cold and the part close to the headphone plug started getting faulty connection and now everything just sounds like the glockenspiel version of what it used to be. I would definitely buy one of these again, and in fact I will. $11 every 3 years is a pretty cheap price to pay for being able to listen to my mp3 player in the car.
Customer Review: Works, but wears out quickly. Summary: 2 Stars
I've owned four of these, and after a couple months of use they all break. The part of the cord that enters the cassette piece begins to wear down, causing increasingly poor quality of sound until eventually it becomes unusable. I've been keeping the packaging and receipt of each one I've purchased because, without fail, I'm back in the store returning it for a new one about every 2-3 months. I wouldn't bother, but I drive a lot for work and need some sort of adapter for my mp3 player or I'll go crazy!
Quite frustrating.
Customer Review: Works as expected Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this 4 weeks ago to take on my vacation to go with my Garmin GPS. It worked great for this. I usually left the GPS connected to it. I liked this setup as I could easily adjust volume and also shutoff the audio directions when I didn't want to hear them. Bonus was that at night we played some DVDs on my laptop and I plugged the adapter into it's headphone jack. The RV' audio was much better than with the small laptop speakers.
Anyway, we were on the road for 3 weeks straight and It is working like a champ.
