Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Philips USA PH-62050 CD/MP3/MD-To-Cassette AdapterCustomer Review: Does What It's Supposed for a Great Price Summary: 4 Stars
The only thing my 2002 Honda Accord was missing was a way to easily play my iPod through the sound system. I tried those FM adapters and found it difficult to find an available frequency, and the device was always needing new batteries (mainly because I would forget to turn it off). This product is very satisfactory, and for only about $10 including shipping! Overall the sound quality is very good and clear. The only drawback is a slight squeaking sound that is sometimes present. It seems it's from the product turning in the tape player. It's kind of like a cricket, but not as loud, definitely not louder than the music. It's very faint in the background. This doesn't bother me at all and I hardly notice it (my husband actually had to point it out to me), but the type of person that hears every little noise and is driven crazy by it should probably stay away from this product.
Customer Review: very good value for money Summary: 4 Stars
I'm on my fourth one of these in about 3 years, but I'm not complaining. I bought the first because the much more expensive Griffin FM transmitter I was using to listen to my iPod in the car stunk. This gives much better sound quality. Each of them has lasted for about 8-10 months. Two have developed shorts making one of the stereo channels inaudible, and the other's spindles just got too noisy to be tolerable. I'm a big fan of Amazon's prices in general, but I've found that this item has always been $3-4 cheaper at my local discount retailer that starts with W, even after sales tax and factoring in free super saver or Amazon Prime shipping.
Do the ones that cost twice as much sound twice as good, or last twice as long? I doubt it. This item is good value for money, for those of us who have a tape deck but no audio in port or iPod dock in our cars.
Customer Review: Tunes in the car--great quality Summary: 5 Stars
I use this to play my iPod Classic in my car via the tape player and am really pleased with the sound. At first, I thought I noticed a low ticking sound but then didn't hear it anymore, so either it stopped or the sound of the music covered it. The music sounds as good as if I'd put the CD in the car CD player. I do have to turn up the volume to the car speakers somewhat but I have to do that for satellite radio too.
I've never been fond of shuffling CDs to the car and back again so there's one group that just lives in the car. It's awfully nice to now have the option of listening to the wide variety of music on my iPod in addition to the other choices. It would be nice if the unit had a little bag for storage in the glove compartment, but for the price, I'm very satisfied with this device.
Customer Review: One of the best out there Summary: 5 Stars
I did a ton of research and finally ended up buying this adapter. I had a generic adapter that was awful. The audio quality was really bad, with almost no bass. For me it was between this one and the Sony. I heard the monster was not that great. The audio quality on this one is good, of course it it not CD or even tape quality, but you are not going to get excellent sound quality from any tape adapter. I found that if I have my device playing the music(phone/iPod) at almost full volume it gets the best frequency range. BUT if I have the device at full volume it gets very distorted and sounds like poop. So you will have to play with it. I can not hear any machine noise from this Philips. From the research I have done this is one of the best adapters period, and for the price it is by far the best.
Customer Review: I Use It to Listen to Pandora!!!! Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this because I wanted to listen to Pandora stream through my HTC EVO Android cell phone. Unfortunately, I have a 2005 car that isn't equipped with an audio jack to do so. I found out that I can use this the same way I use a 3.5mm wire to listen to Pandora at work, by plugging it into the headphone outlets. If the wire is jiggled or moved then there's a loud static-like popping sound that comes through the speakers. That doesn't happen often, only when I am moving the phone around in the car or something. The audio is controlled using a combination of volume adjustments on my EVO and the car stereo volume controls. It isn't as loud as I would like it (I want my favorite songs LOUD!!!) but it serves its purpose and allows me to hear a great variety of music via Pandora and/or my iPod.
