Customer Review: Extremely well made, BUT...
Summary: 4 Stars

This heavy duty fixed mount was used to mount a Samsung 50" plasma TV (roughly 90 lbs) to my bedroom wall. I chose this particular model because: 1) it was made here in the USA, 2) had the built in 5* angle adjustment that I thought I was going to need/use and 3) slim profile (middle of the three models).

My first impression when the package arrived was "wow, this thing weighs a ton". Once unpackaged, I could see why. This product is extremely well made, NO cheap Chinese metal in this thing. Product came with all the hardware and included a locking bar, which although probably wouldn't be used in the average home setting, was a nice feature.

After making careful measurements on the wall I used my Zircon i700 stud finder (highly recommend also), which locates both the stud center and edges not to mention AC wiring. I mounted the back mount to the wall using the included lag screws, which after installing all 4 screws had a very, very solid feel to it.

Although I would HIGHLY recommend this product I encountered three small problems (perhaps more of a disappointment) during installation. The first problem I encountered was when I went to mount the brackets to the back of the TV; the packaging did not include the correct size of M8 bolts. Of the two provided, one was way to short and the other a bit too long. Therefore, I needed to run down to the local hardware store to get the correct size M8 bolt. The only reason I mention this is because given the range of TV's (37"-60") that can be mounted with this product most of the hardware included is of the much smaller M4-M6 size???

Well after getting the correct bolts the brackets were easily centered and attached. Since accessing the rear of the set will be impossible once mounted I made all the necessary cable connections to the rear of the TV. Then with the help of a friend the TV was lifted into place.

My original intention was to use the built in 5* angle adjustment for a better viewing angle from bed. However, I quickly realized that due to the slimmer profile of this particular model the additional 5* forward caused the cable connections on the back to hit the wall. Therefore, I had to reposition it to 0*, which actually looks better anyway. So if your TV connections come out horizontally and are located down near the bottom of the set (which most TV's probably are) then don't pick this model with the slimmer design if you need the extra 5* tilt forward.

Lastly, although most home users would probably not use the included lock bar, the slimmer profile of this particular model makes it near impossible (at 0* never mind at the optional 5* tilt) for the adult hand/arm to reach up behind and fasten a pad lock. However, if you have a child handy this step probably can be accomplished. Hope you enjoyed this review.
