Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Channel Master 4228HD Long-Range Outdoor Rooftop HDTV AntennaCustomer Review: Good product; good cost Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this product a week ago and have had it installed for 3 days now. I replaced a single bay directional antenna with this one and have seen dramatically improved results. I receive channels whose broadcast towers are all located around 40+ miles away and get absolutely perfect reception (Full bars, as my receiver measures signal, with little to no fluctuation even in stormy weather).
I had no trouble with the connector, as some have said; however, I can see why someone might as it seems fragile. I did have this issue with my last antenna but I found it to be a relatively simple fix and wasn't fussed by the risk.
Customer Review: Poor Reception Summary: 1 Stars
I have installed two antennas in my area for two houses. One with Antennas Direct Clearstream4 (C4) which is smaller in size and more manageable and this one (Channel Master 4228HD).
Getting the best reception with the C4 was a lot easier eventhough it is located in low elevation (but roof top).
The 4228HD was unable to get 20 channels of the ones C4 was able to get even though it was on a house on hill-top and on a mast considerably above the roof.
4228HD has very poor reception. Tried Winegard AP/8700 preamp and it got me only 2 more channels.
Not recommended at all.
Customer Review: Didn't Work for Me Summary: 3 Stars
I ordered this antenna as a last ditch hope for "free air" television after the analog to digital goverment ordered switch over. It did not work for me. I live on the south side of a hill and the transmitters I needed to receive signal from were not only far away, over 60 miles, but were transmitting from the north. Apparently the new digital signal requires a better "line of sight" position than my roof top. I have now installed DirectTV and am enjoying 50 clear channels from the satellite which resides in the southern sky.
Customer Review: Boost Signal Summary: 4 Stars
This Antenna in concert with my old roof-top model (they are paralelled together), boosted my digital signal on a "hard to get" station by +130% to almost 80% signal strength. My old antenna, running alone, trapped a 30% signal, and the new 4228HD running alone trapped +40% signal. By turning a splitter backwards and paralelling the signals from both antennas together (adding the signals) to basically 80% signal strength, I can now watch CBS in high quality 1080i HD where before, the station was barely viewable!
Customer Review: free tv viewing Summary: 5 Stars
We got 18 channels at just above ranch-style-home roof height. We are about 40 miles from the Toledo, Ohio stations. We only got 9 channels with our tv top box and home made hanger antenna. You still need the tv top box if you do not have hd tv, to unscramble the signal. You get a nice weather channel, and a guide channel in this area as well. We were missing a screw, and they got it to us within the week. Jan 2010, after rescanning, there are now 41 channells available, including Fox.
