Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Palm TX Handheld with Hard CaseCustomer Review: Very nice PDA Summary: 5 Stars
I chose the Palm TX primarily based on the reviews, and it doesn't disappoint. It is relatively easy to operate, the screen is big and bright, and I've had no problems after 6 weeks. I use it primarily for medical reference and some games & movies while traveling. The WiFi connection worked flawlessly. My only tiny dissatisfaction is with design of the hard case, which doesn't have cutouts so that you can charge the Palm while in the case (useful if your cats are traipsing about on your desk at night!). If you can get a good deal on the Palm TX by itself, you might look into one of the other cases available. I had a Rhino skin on my old PDA, which I liked very much. But all in all, this is a very good value.
Customer Review: Product works great, Documentation sucks Summary: 4 Stars
The product arrived on time and in good condition. Getting it totally functional was another thing. I.E. You need to load additional software to get it to sync with outlook. The doc that comes with it doesn't cover much and you need to hit the web page and hunt for info, that I did not find easily. Even opening the hardcover was problematic - I almost broke it trying to figure out how to open it. ANY doc with simple instructions on how to open (pressure from the sides till it pops, then to close it slide it together), not just close it would help.
Overall I am pleased with the product although not pleased with the documentation on setting it up and getting it totally functional.
Customer Review: El Gordo's Palm TX Review Summary: 5 Stars
Palm TX Handheld with Hard Case I have used Palm products for some years. Until the Tungsten T with flash memory, I had nothing but problems. My Tungsten T has perform extremely well over the last several years, but started to had problems. I decided to get the Palm TX, but I was having a lot of apprehensioms about it. So I purchased the Palm TX from Amazon which included a hard care. The price was lower than Palm's. So far it has performed extremely well. I am still working with some of the features my Tungsten T did not have. I believe this is going to be the best Palm PDA I have owned.
Customer Review: Nice Idea. Poor Quality (and Quality Control) Summary: 2 Stars
Third unit. 1st wouldn't get past the CD install stage, 2nd bricked completely (battery issues), 3rd remains to be seen. Don't want everything on my cellphone. I've used Palms for 10 years but may go back to paper. Device has lots of capability but quality control is gone. Palm only cares about the Treo anymore. And Palm customer support on #2 above informed me re: serial number - despite my registering my Amazon "new" purchase in 10/2007 - that the unit was actually registered (!) before in 5/2006. So I got an "open box" old refurb unit, not a new one. Not even close. Lesson to be learned there about both Palm and Amazon. With these toys it's really "buyer beware".
Customer Review: Don't get the hardcase Summary: 2 Stars
The hardcase is terrible, don't spend the extra money. Hard to close always, now latch is broken (flimsy) and it won't close at all. Difficult to use in hard case as you can't reach the stylus or power button. Too bulky to be comfortable in pocket and the case fits TX poorly, so rattles (loud) in your pocket.
This gets two stars (not less) only because I like the TX as a personal organizer. I need a bigger screen and don't want to pay for a data plan (already paying enough for the cell phone). But if you wan't to really do much of anything on the Web, get a different product, most websites are barely readable if they download at all.
