Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Palm TX Handheld with Hard CaseCustomer Review: Glad I went back Summary: 4 Stars
I had to replace a Treo accidentally damaged. I found after trying it that having both phone and PDA in one unit was unsatisfactory for me, largely because the unit was too bulky to wear comfortably on my belt. Going back to a tiny phone (Razr) and separate PDA has been a relief. And what a PDA. This unit comes without a keyboard, but the virtual keyboard is so easy to access and the graffiti writing recognition system has been so improved, that I don't notice the absence of the keyboard most of the time. Adequate memory, expansion card slot, and excellent resolution of the LCD screen are all bonuses. And the hard case even has two slots for keeping extra memory cards handy. I have a language translation card and a game card handy all the time now, and not separately stored.
Customer Review: great, but... Summary: 3 Stars
I am so glad that I bought a hard case for my palm. After 1 1/2 years the palm is undamaged through all of my packing it around and an occasional drop. I use my palm for music when I walk/run, you cannot close the case with headphones in the palm nor can you hear the music very well if you close the case and have the volume all the way up. The hard case is a wonderful case but my latch eventually broke off, its just a little tiny piece of plastic. I did glue mine back on with a little luck but it didn't last long. I was ready to take it back the first day because I couldn't get the thing to latch and unlatch until my husband showed me that you have to push the top to the right while pushing the bottom to the left. After a while you easily get the hang of it.
Customer Review: horrible Summary: 1 Stars
The calendar on my desktop for the palm went BLANK except for repeat items. I'm a lawyer, so all of my court dates, office conferences, and other appointments were gone. Palm technical support were helpful in restoring some info, but not the prior six weeks worth of calendaring. Further, I received mixed answers as to whether the calendar could be backed up, with the last answer being that there was no way to do so. Great, so if I miss court, who's going to bail me out??? This problem happened FOUR times, with the most recent coming after they uninstalled and reinstalled the software hoping that would make a difference. The hand held device has worked okay but enough !!! I'm returning the whole thing and will get an IPOD. Those always work great.
Customer Review: Beware-Windows XP Media Center Edition NOT supported by Palm. Summary: 1 Stars
Palm will not support its product if you try to install it or synchronize it with MS Windows XP Media Center Edition (MCE). I was unable to make it work, despite the varied fixes I found on the Internet. The Palm technician was NOT helpful, except for the fact that midway in our conversation he said that Palm did not support MCE installations. Palm claims compatibility with Windows XP, but it will not support XP with MCE. Thank goodness that Amazon is willing to let me return my Palm TX, so I'm not out any money. But thanks to Palm's refusal to mention MCS incompatibility, I am out 100+ hours trying to make this work, along with the hassle to both Amazon and me for having to deal with a return. Beware! Bravo, Amazon. Pooh-Pooh, Palm.
Customer Review: Hard to use, first one I received was defective! Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased my Palm TX a week ago. It arrived here with lightning speed, so kudos to Amazon. The problem is, it was defective!! Every time I searched for our wifi at home, the screen went blank and the Palm froze up completely. I had to soft reset to get it functioning again. I chatted online with Palm's tech support, and they wanted me to purchase additional software, which they *hoped* would solve the issue. When I refused to pay for software that may or may not work for my brand new product, I got switched to phone support. It only took them 2 minutes to realize that my Palm was defective. I'm returning my Palm with the crazy optimism that the next one will work. If not, I'm exchanging it for a Nokia n810!
