Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of P3 International P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage MonitorCustomer Review: Great little monitor Summary: 4 StarsI love this for the simple fact that you can find out how much power your devices are actually using. The only downfall with this product is that is takes up both standard outlet spaces in order to use it. But I mostly only check things temporarily anyway. It's also difficult to use in places like behind a desk or entertainment center but extension chords help with that problem. All in all a great little tool for those who are curious.
Customer Review: Great product, needs cord extender though Summary: 4 StarsThis product does exactly what it says. Looking at the picture on this site I figured it may be complicated, but it is very easy to use. Each button represents volts, watts, kwh, etc. so you can scroll through each value by hitting those buttons. I am surprised to learn that my high end PC that I have built with all of the bells and whistles only uses 190 watts of power. I am also amazed that it uses 30 watts of power even when it is completely turned off! So I will be sure to hit the main switch on my power strip for certain from now on.
The reason I gave this product 4 stars, is because looking at the pic, I thought you could plug in something else underneath this product. However the bottom of it is really long, so it overs up the whole wall outlet. This problem is solved by me buying a "cord extension" from Radio Shack for $12 dollars. You can see an example of one from the pics uploaded here to this site with the thick cord extending out of this device. I may buy another one since I have so many different electronics and do not feel like switching my Kill A Watt around all of the time.
Customer Review: Cool - but could be improved... Summary: 3 StarsI had to decide between buying this unit and buying the competition - the "Watts-Up"Watts Up PRO - the pro model of the Watts Up does cost more - but it does more too. My biggest complaint with the "Kill-A-Watt" is that the unit covers both outlets in a dual receptical (even if you plug it in the "top" outlet as pictured) - so you will want to buy a short pigtail if you need to use this in a duplex or quad outlet. The "Watts Up" comes with a cord.
Otherwise, it is a fun tool - my kids ran all over the house testing things to see how much power they consumed.
Customer Review: Pretty good but... Summary: 3 StarsThis device measures O.K., but the stupid design uses one outlet and blocks the use of the second outlet. Really dumb!
Customer Review: P4400 Works great Summary: 5 StarsWorks great. Very useful to determine watts being used by any device you can plug into it.
