My old remote control stopped working and I was a little skeptical at purchasing something for this small price for a 4-year-old generic-brand television. I have an Apex television. There were five codes listed for Apex and the first code entered was the code that worked!
This remote manufacturer has several codes for over 130 television brands (Yes, I counted!) with some brands having multiple codes. I was surprised at the easy set-up. If you follow the 4 simple steps, you should have no problem.

Although this remote touts itself as "guaranteed to work with all brands," it does not work with the bargain Element TV I purchased at Circuit City. It was a total waste of my money. I went online to find codes and could not, including at the maker's web site. Too bad, because the design was pretty close to right for my remote-challenged wife.Customer Review: Great replacement

I use this for my bedroom TV and DVD/VHS combo machine.
The codes worked well for the two brands, and the functions work well, although some take a while to get used too. Both the TV and the DVD/VHS players are several years old and the TV remote had died years ago.
Very inexpensive and the basic functions are easy to use. Almost five stars.

Occasionally doesn't work. If I spin the batteries or pop them out and put them back in the Remote will work again.
Otherwise, we really like it. Easy to use and program.
