I bought one of these a few years back and the top section of the back legs was made out of plastic. I used it for a Polk Audio CS2 center channel speaker and a few weeks ago the plastic parts finally gave out. Luckily the speaker wasn't badly damaged. Since I could not find anything else that's even close to this I decided to buy another one. When I received the new one I was pleasantly surprised to find that OmniMount is no longer using any plastic parts for this product so it should be a lot sturdier this time around.Customer Review: Very clever center speaker stand

It is very versatile and still very sturdy. In fact it can be used in even more ways than the manual points out, to fit more kinds of TVs and surfaces. I use it on top of my Sony 55A3000 rear projection LCD. My speaker is about 20 lbs and I do not see any signs of stress on the TV or the stand. And at this price point, it seems like a very good value for money.
One bad point is that it offers no mechanism to conceal the speaker cables going to the speaker.
Overall, Higly recommended.

This product has made a huge difference in the look and sound of our home theatre system. Being able to place the center channel above the tv makes the sound system sound better when seated and significantly better when standing, plus it frees up space for other equipment below the screen. My only gripe is with the clamp system to hold the legs in place. The plastic inserts do not serve to hold the adjustable legs at the desired length very well, but overall it is exactly what I wanted.Customer Review: Might be good for the right TV, but not for me...

I was looking for a solution to placing a center channel under/over my LCD TV, and I thought this was going to do the trick. Unfortunately, once I received it and tried to attach it to the TV, I found that my fairly new, fairly thin LCD was too thin to support this device.
Pros: Solid construction, great concept
Cons: Can't be mounted on very flat/thin TV's
I still like the idea of this shelf, but make sure it will work for you before purchasing it.

Overall it is exactly what I needed. I have a full size home theater receiver and a small center channel on it above my 50" Samsung DLP TV. Fingers crossed...it has not fallen yet as some others have had happen but I am well within it's limits.
I also flipped it over so only the lip is over the edge of my TV. Looks alot better than those cheesy pegs.
Got a great deal on it and there did not seem to be many other alternatives out there for the lack of depth to my TV.
