This is my third HDMI switcher. I tried the Phillips brand and the Circuit City house model(don't remember the brand name). The first two tries would not handle auto switching correctly so I returned them. The OPPO switch is better in every way. It worked great right out of the box and handles auto switching flawlessly. I have a Motorola cable box that is always putting out a signal, which the other models could not handle. As a previous poster stated by plugging the cable box in the third port(lower switching priority) it handles my needs perfectly. I thought I would have to program my Logitech Harmony remote to switch the OPPO box, but it was not necessary. I have an older HD TV with only one HDMI input, so I wanted to get a decent switch that would automatically switch between my Linksys DMA2100 Media Extender and an OPPO DV-980H DVD player. This switch does the job perfectly.
According to Oppo's website, the ports are prioritized. Port one has the highest piority while three the lowest. They recommended placing my particular DVD player on the second or third port, because it always has a active HDMI signal out. This has worked without a hitch. I have not had a single issue with this unit automatically switching between the two inputs.
If you want a product that works as promised and looks great, this is the one to get.

After comparing some ten or more similar products, I opted to go with the OPPO product based on reviews and recommendations of others who were familiar with the brand. I found that there were multiple similar products that actually cost more and had less features.
The Oppo product performs flawlessly with my Sony Bravia HDTV, Onkyo HD Receiver, Sony 400 DVD Changer, Panasonic B-Ray Player, & Sony Play Station. My Onkyo receiver only has three inputs and there in lies the problem. The Oppo switch/box is so small that it is barely visible resting atop the B-Ray player. I have yet to use the remote that is included because the product automatically switches to the appropriate source.

OPPO makes a great line of low cost/high value products, including the HM-31 3 port HDMI switch. I use this 1.3 HDMI compliant switch to feed my Key Digital video processor/scaler. With these two devices I am able to watch ALL sources (DirecTV HR21 [1080i], PS3 Blu-ray [upscaled to 1080P], Apple TV [720P], Marantz DVD [480P] )in vibrant 1080P HD.
The package includes a credit card size IR remote to manually change ports or the auto sensing feature will transfer to the port having a video signal. This small, thin unit also has unobtrusive LED's to indicate power and port selected.
In this time of ever expanding media, I just wish OPPO offered a 4 or 5 port model.

I bought this product on the strength of the user reviews. I have a TiVo HD, Xbox 360, and PS3. As per the review suggestions, I put the TiVo HD on the 3rd port, but I don't get any autoswitching when I turn the PS3 or Xbox on/off. It doesn't switch from the TiVo to the PS3 or Xbox, and when I manually switch over to those inputs and then turn off the PS3/Xbox, it doesn't automatically switch back to the TiVo. Very disappointing.
I have used the IOGear 4 Port Automatic HDMI Switch with Remote for a while, and I *really* like it's autoswitching capabilities. I had hoped to upgrade to HDMI 1.3 compatibility with this Oppo unit, but I think I'll go back to the IOGear.
