I had previously purchased an OPPO DV971 dvd player, and loved how it worked. Oppo has been the best with their customer service in the past. So when I needed an HDMI switch, i thought this product would be the one. I was concerned when I read a review of someone who had a PS3, an XBOX 360 and DirecTV HD and said it didnt work, as I have that same setup. As well as that, I also have the Onkyo 7.1 reciever that someone else claimed to have issues with. However I trusted Oppo so I decided to give it a shot. Sure enough right out the box they proved their worth once again.
I was able to hook up my PS3, Xbox 360 and DIrectTV into the switcher, and my old Oppo DV971 into the 2nd HDMI input in my onkyo reciever, and now I am all hooked up, with no issues. The picture is great, and their seems to be no real problems with switching.
I recomend this product. It is clear that HDMI inputs that are carrying mulitple types of signal (1080i 480p etc) can sometimes confuse your equipment, and a reboot of stuff will solve it. However that issue has been reduced tremendously for me and I have not experienced it yet with this switch!
Customer Review: Great quality built.. but not what I expected

I bought this one for its auto switch feature. But it did not work for me. I had 3 devices: WD Media player, DirecTV HD box, and Pioneer eliteDV-59AVI DVD player. when I turned off all 3 devices, I saw only the light that connected to DVD turned off, other 2 lights were red (when connected the light was blue). I believed that WD and HD box still sent small signals to this device even though its were turned off. This was reason this switch could not switch automatically. It was confused thought.
I gave this 3 stars and keep it for the picture quality came out of this device. it was great. I tried monoprice switch and another also bought from amazon.com. But none of these can provide great picture quality like this one. Otherwise, it should be zero stars and returned back to Amazon because of expensiveness.
To work around the issue, I set up a learn command from my universal remote Logitech Harmony 550 (excellent remote I have never seen before) to learn 3 switch commands of this device. I programmed to turn on the player combine with the switch command to select appropriate connection I want.

We have a Sony HDTV with only one HDMI input. The TV is still an excellent performer, and I was not ready to spend another $2,500 on a new TV, but I really wanted a Blu Ray player. I also felt like "why get a Blu Ray if you aren't going to get HDMI as the input."
I looked and while there are several HDMI switches available, this one is CLEARLY head and shoulders above the rest.
Set up was a breeze. We use Dish Network Vip 722, and a Panasonic Blu Ray player.
There was absolutely no degredation in picture or audio quality. Using the TV is input 3 is great. You simply click the "on" button for the Blu Ray player and it switches to that input, no need to touch the Oppo remote. Once the movie is over, or you are done watching, it, click power off, and about 15 seconds later it auto switches back to TV.
Yes there is a brief lag between sources, but that is a small price to pay for this level of quality and simplicity of use.
This is not only highly recommended, it is a MUST HAVE for the HDMI input challenged.

I have to admit, I was a little skeptical given the price of the other options I was looking at. However, I have been very happy I ordered it. It was packaged nicely which I know is not critical, but a nice attention to detail. It is a sleek looking small black box just like the pictures. The LEDs are subtle, and not super bright. To me, this was a big plus... I have too many winking lights in the dark room as it is. The lights on the front of the device that show the device is on, and which input is active are just right. Install was of course no problem. It switches inputs to the active device perfect. I have a Scientific Atlanta HD DVR (which is crap, I need a Tivo HD), a upscaling DVD player, and a Sony PS3 as devices the OPPO is switching. No problems with any content either 720p, 1080i or 1080p. I've only had to use the remote for the switcher when I've wanted to leave the PS3 on (downloading) and turn on the DVR to watch TV. Great device. If you need an HDMI switcher, this one works great for a nice price.Customer Review: Really does AutoSwitch

Bought this based on reviews that said it actually does auto-switch. And I can report that with my Cable box in port 3 (and not in standby mode), blu-ray in port 2, Roku in port 1, I have no need to use remote or button on box. Turn on Blu-ray, it plays on the tv. Turn off blu-ray, turn on Roku, comes up on Tv.
For such a simple device the packaging is top-notch: it comes with it's own cloth case.
There is one wrikle with the Roku, since there is no "off" button, you have to wait for it to go to sleep, or hit the Oppo switch to go back to TV immediately. No fault with the switcher, but Roku could really use a way to turn it off immediately.
However well it works and is packaged, for $100 bucks, they really should include an HDMI cable. Hell, there only $.25 for the BrillianStore version sold on amazon so there really is no reason not to.
Note to BrilliantStore and Oppo: get together for win-win-win.
