Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of OPPO HM-31 Advanced HDMI 1.3 and 1080p SwitchCustomer Review: Awesome Little Device Summary: 5 StarsProduct works as advertised. Understanding how the product prioritizes the ports allows the user to utilize the product without the need of IR switching - basically becomes transparent to your overall theatre system. Only wish is that they had a model that had more ports or guaranteed daisy chaining.
Customer Review: Very pleased with this switch Summary: 5 StarsThe device is small, shinny black, sleek -- it looks nice.
It works -- I hooked up two DVD players (one standard upscaling and the other a blu ray -- both sony). There was no change in image or in sound as far as I could tell. I have tried at least one other brand of switch that did not pass the images at all. The remote is a bit small and might be easily lost, though the buttons on the remote are of decent size. I had some problem figuring out how to open the remote battery compartment -- nothing on their web site or in their documentation on how to do it. An e-mail to their tech support got me an answer the next business day.
Customer Review: Perfection! What else to expect from OPPO? Summary: 5 StarsI went through bunch of the HDMI switches. Ironically, the cheapest brand less "HDMI Switcher" for $20 worked flawlessly with all my devices. Nobody knows how reliable it is though. The rest were hit and miss and only worked with some devices, including very reputable and expensive brand name switches. Mid-range priced HDMI switches are a lottery with no "winners". Usually your luck depends on the set of devices you have.
I also got OPPO switch and it proved once again - you can rely on OPPO. Should have bought it the first. Yes, it is a bit expensive, but it works, it is a pleasure to own and use, well engineered, well packaged(Apple-like style) and will serve you well for a long time to come.
OPPO offer rock solid products, period...
Customer Review: Great quality built.. but not what I expected Summary: 3 StarsI bought this one for its auto switch feature. But it did not work for me. I had 3 devices: WD Media player, DirecTV HD box, and Pioneer eliteDV-59AVI DVD player. when I turned off all 3 devices, I saw only the light that connected to DVD turned off, other 2 lights were red (when connected the light was blue). I believed that WD and HD box still sent small signals to this device even though its were turned off. This was reason this switch could not switch automatically. It was confused thought.
I gave this 3 stars and keep it for the picture quality came out of this device. it was great. I tried monoprice switch and another also bought from amazon.com. But none of these can provide great picture quality like this one. Otherwise, it should be zero stars and returned back to Amazon because of expensiveness.
To work around the issue, I set up a learn command from my universal remote Logitech Harmony 550 (excellent remote I have never seen before) to learn 3 switch commands of this device. I programmed to turn on the player combine with the switch command to select appropriate connection I want.
Customer Review: Simple, easy, should of got it sooner. Summary: 5 StarsFinally getting tired of trying to explain to the wife how to switch the HDMI cable for the 360 and BR player (TV only has 1 HDMI port), I decided to try and give this product a go.
I've used splitters in the past and always could see the video degradation. Most people don't notice things like that, but working with tv sets and entertainment systems daily, I've learned to see differences.
Unpacking this item was a bit surprising as the splitter itself comes in a sealed cloth bag with a velcro opener. Seeing the item has a glossy black finish, this is a nice addition if you decide to move and don't want it scratched.
It was very lightweight and very easy to set up and get operating. And having read previous reviews, I hooked up my DVR to port 3, as its always on, and the 360 to port 1 and BR Player to port 2. The auto switching between port 1/2 and 3 is great. Once I turn the 360 or BRP off, it goes right to port 3 for the TV. The ONLY complaint I have is it does take a few seconds to switch over, maybe due to it waiting to see if the signal comes back.
Other then that, I highly recommend this device.
