Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of OPPO HM-31 Advanced HDMI 1.3 and 1080p SwitchCustomer Review: Oppo very Goodo Summary: 5 Stars
Excellent says it all. There are already several good reviews that give the technical low down. This switch handles the highest quality HDMI. I connected a 50 foot HDMI cable from the back of my livingroom to the switch for my laptop. The video and audio is the same as from my device in next to the tv -- fabulous. It is also simple to set up. I like that it can be programmed for my Harmony remote, but I have not had the time to do that yet - the signal detection handles the task for me so it is working OK now without even programming the Harmony Remote. I only wish it had more inputs. Adding the switch only gave me 2 additioal HDMIs.
Customer Review: Very pleased with this switch Summary: 5 Stars
The device is small, shinny black, sleek -- it looks nice.
It works -- I hooked up two DVD players (one standard upscaling and the other a blu ray -- both sony). There was no change in image or in sound as far as I could tell. I have tried at least one other brand of switch that did not pass the images at all. The remote is a bit small and might be easily lost, though the buttons on the remote are of decent size. I had some problem figuring out how to open the remote battery compartment -- nothing on their web site or in their documentation on how to do it. An e-mail to their tech support got me an answer the next business day.
Customer Review: Works as Advertised Summary: 5 Stars
I have tried other HDMI Switches and have come to the conclusion that the problem I was having connecting my Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, and my Up-Convert 1080P DVD player thru my A/V Receiver (Onkyo) was/is that the other switches were not 1.3 certified. This switch from OPPO does what I require it to do, which is switch between my Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, and my UpConvert DVD players and send those signals thru my Onkyo 605 receiver input to my 50" Samsung DLP tv. Worked perfectly. If you have your doubts about the confusing reviews on the myriad number of HDMI Switches nowbeing advertised, then my suggestion is to go with the ones that are 1.3 Certified.
Customer Review: Excellent product!! Summary: 5 Stars
I am very happy with this OPPO HM-31 HDMI switch. I use it for a Directv HDTV receiver, Sony HMDI upconvert DVD and a PS3 system. I have a 55 inch Sony Grand Wega LCD projection HDTV with only 1 HDMI input. I do not notice any loss of signal strength or picture clarity. The only issue I have is the Directv receiver keeps a live signal even when the power is off, so the switch does not know to autoswtich to another device when it is turned on. So I have to use the remote to switch to the PS3 or DVD player. In my opinion, this is not an issue with the OPPO switch, but more of an issue with the Directv receiver.
Customer Review: Excellent product - plug and play with auto switch Summary: 5 Stars
I read all the reviews about this and other similar products and the one thing that brought me back to the OPPO HM-31 was the auto switch. Basically it will automatically switch to the component that is on. You don't even need the remote. I have a Blu-ray DVD player and a HD Sat Receiver plugged into the unit. When I want to watch a DVD I simply turn the DVD player on and the OPPO automatically switches to the DVD. When I am done watching the DVD I turn the DVD player off and the OPPO HM-31 automatically switches back to the HD Sat Receiver. The unit was plug and play - used with a Panasonic Plasma.
