Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of OCZ 2GB PC2-5400 667MHz DDR2 Value SoDIMM Module (OCZ2MV6672G)Customer Review: A nervous first-timer replacing RAM Summary: 5 Stars
Encouraged by so many reviews, I decided to buy this RAM and install it myself. I was pretty nervous since I had never opened any of my PCs or laptops I owned previously. I bought some micro screwdrivers from Fry's and watched a couple of YouTube tube videos before embarking on my mission. My heart sank as my fears realized. My netbook did not fire up after I replaced the memory first time. I had to open it again, and I actually did that for three times before I realized that I was not locking the memory properly. I was just not pressing it hard enough into the slot. After I figured that out, it was just sweet. As one reviewer mentioned, just pressed F2 and then F10 while booting it up. The whole thing probably took a few minutes after I did it right. cool.
Customer Review: Product Great - Vendor Not Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this product for an ASUS 904HA. It works as advertised. I would order the same product again; just from someone else. This product was shipped via the US Postal Svc. Estimated shipping in 48 hrs and delivery in 7 days. (7 days? You gotta be kidding me.) The product didn't arrive until 9 days later. Amazon showed shipped in 48 hours but the USPS shows it actually shipped 7 days later. Either way it was two days late; taking 9 days to reach me through the mail. I don't know if this is the way Amazon treats standard shipping to convince you to upgrade the shipping costs or if the vendor doesn't tell you ahead of time the product's out of stock. I'll probably give Amazon another chance but not with this product.
Customer Review: Great value! Summary: 5 Stars
I ordered this because it was the most affordable 2GB RAM stick I could get (after shipping, because with Amazon's promo, shipping was free). I tested it and got no memory errors (though I cannot speak for other RAM sticks sold by Amazon), this certainly brings me peace of mind and satisfaction from my purchase.
I bought this piece to upgrade the RAM in the Asus Eee PC T91 (the touch screen model) and it was a little tricky getting the RAM stick properly inserted. This was more of an issue with the computer's RAM controller itself, as I found reinserting the original OEM RAM stick just as tricky. I suppose just as with any computer, make sure you install it correctly and you shouldn't have any problems.
Customer Review: 1GB problem with EEE PC 1000 Summary: 3 Stars
I bought a 2GB memory module and returned it after the PC saw only 1GB, then I found the reviews here that mention the BIOS update. At this point, I have updated the BIOS from 7.02 to 8.03. Here are the instructions:
- download the ROM file from ASUS (in my case, 1000_ASUS_0803.zip)
- extract the 0803.ROM file
- rename the 0803.ROM file to 1000.ROM
- format a USB stick to FAT or FAT32
- copy the 1000.ROM file to the USB stick
- insert the USB stick into the EEE
- boot the EEE and repeatedly press ALT-F2
- this starts the EZ-Flash utility and updates the BIOS.
I gave the product three starts because I don't know yet if it will work.
Customer Review: Review of 2 Gig memory moddule for Eee Netbook 1000HE Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using computers constantly since the Apple II + and early IBM days of 640 RAM. I fully understand the fast obsolecense of any type of these machines. I am careful about adding hardware modifications to computers for this reason. I think that netbooks are a major milestone in computers and the addition of inexpensive enhancements in RAM to 2 Gigs in this case is very important given the new Atom microprocessor which saves battery life by running slower. So the 2 Gig ehancement should be a no brainer from the outset with this computer. I installed it myself and I am hardly a hardware mechanic. I watched a video on YouTube and it took a few minutes.
