Customer Review: Hawkeye fish finder
Summary: 4 Stars

I have been using this fish finder for a few weeks now. It is definitely worth the money. I bought it to use when I fish in my kayak. It would be nice if you could get a shorter cable for it instead of the 35' cord. I just keep it coiled up. I just dangle the transducer over the side of the kayak. When I paddle along the water movement near the kayak interupts the signal. If I am sitting still or drifting or paddeling slow it works fine. I have one lake near me that is over forty feet deep. The fish finder seems to have trouble with water over that depth. I have been using rechargable batteries and I am wondering if those batteries are just not powerfull enough?? Next time I go to that lake I will try brand new regular batteries and see if it makes a difference.

Customer Review: Cool Device -- No more Guessing
Summary: 4 Stars

My son and I used this cool device on our recent fishing trip and it performed well. We spotted fish concentrations with ease in no time. This device is handy especially if you are renting a boat and have no time to waste to catch fish quickly. I love this device.

However, I would also like to see some product enhancements though.
1. Include a SAVE SETTING feature - this device does not save your settings. You have to re-set it each time you power up.
2. Include an instant fish depth numerical screen readout. The current design has graphical boxes that you have to arithmetically calculate each time it spots fishes (i.e. divide the depth by ten and multiply the shaded depth indicator box on the screen). No time for math --- only fishing!!

Customer Review: Great unit for bank fishing, or small boat fishing!
Summary: 4 Stars

I used this product 3 times already and it does what it says. I used it the first time in a river that runs shallow in some parts and it has a few deep holes, which I found using my float tube. In the places where it showed fish I caught fish and the depth readings helped me a lot figuring out where to hang on a little longer fishing. I would recommend this to anyone trying to find the most likely fish holding spot, from the bank or kayak or tube. I will keep using it until I can get a boat and then I will buy one of those more detailed fishfinders.I would give it 5 stars if one day they can add a feature that shows bottom contour instead of just symbols, but that would make it more expensive I guess. Buy it,you won't regret your purchase!

Customer Review: nice addition
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm a pretty simple angler. I just recently bought a kayak so that I could access more fishing environments (rather than being stuck on shore only with limited options, this was my first boat). I like to keep things simple and just wanted a cheap depth/fish finder to play with. I haven't used it a bunch because of my preference for keeping it simple but I must admit when it says there are no fish I never catch one there and the depth reading appears to be pretty accurate from what I can feel with my lures. Plus a few times I've scanned with it and cast to where it said there was fish and I had hits. For sure, not what you want for serious depth graphing, but a nice cheap toy to add to a kayak or canoe that you fish out of.

Customer Review: Great Little Device
Summary: 5 Stars

First, I need to admit that this is my first fish finder, so I can't really compare it to the more expensive, full-feature models, but it met and exceeded all of my expectations. I bought it to use on a canoe trip for locating lake trout in deep water during the middle of the summer. It worked great. I used the broomstick adapter and rigged up a simple mount with a PVC pipe joint and sticks we found around the campsite, and attached it to the canoe with duct tape. Using this setup, we were able to monitor depth and spot individual fish. I'm convinced that the device was truly marking fish, since we tended to catch fish where the device said they were. This gadget is ideal for canoe trip fishing, and the price is right.
