Customer Review: A note on the accessories
Summary: 4 Stars

This is great and I love it! The color is beautiful (Almost exact color as the LG Cherry Chocolate) The picture and sound quality of the DS is the best I've seen for a handheld. *I've never used a PSP, feel free to add your own thoughts to that.*

I haven't played the game yet, so no comment.
*Edit* I did try it out.
It's actually pretty fun. It's not something I would have just bought for myself, but it is enjoyable. My only complaint is the handwriting part. While I have pretty handwriting some of my letters can be a bit weird esp when writing fast. (my lowercase "y"s look similar to the number 4...if you leave the top open) so I lost points bc my handwriting didn't match and it grades "too quickly" for me to hit erase. All in all, Not a bad deal and I'm glad I got it! :)

I just wanted to comment on the carrying case.
While I didn't buy the DS because of the free carrying case, I thought it was a great bonus. (I'm a sucker for "with free *insert random item*")
At first glance the case is beautiful. The black leather-like fabric with the red stitching is just stunning. The interior red velvet looking fabric is also gorgeous. It's also a great size. It's not much larger then the DS Lite itself so it takes up little room. However, it's open on three sides thus the exposed sides have no protection. I like to throw my gameboy in my purse so having all sides covered is a big deal. It also has three game slots that are virtually useless. I stuck my game in it and it took me about 15 min to slowly pry it out. This is one of those things they hired someone to design that had "style" more then "function" on the brain. It is definitely not a case I would have chosen to purchase myself.

I have no complaints about anything else and highly recommend this package esp if you want a red DS (instead of pink, white, or black lol). The price is decent and this red one is only available with the extras! :)

**Edited to Add**
I've owned this set for over 4 months now and have never replaced the carrying case. I still hate the fact the sides are open, (I have one scratch on one side) but I have been unable to find another carrying case that fits as well in my purse.

However I heard they are now selling this exact DS without the extra features.

Customer Review: Brainiacs Overjoyed
Summary: 5 Stars

Since the Nintendo DS was originally released a few years ago, many gamers rejoyced at a new and exciting video game system that changed the way people play video games. Undoubtingly, the Nintendo DS has delivered to gamers young and old, with games like Brain Age. Last year, the Nintendo DS was redesigned into the DS Lite, which has delivered a crisper and sharper picture and delivers even better to DS gamers who've missed out before. Nevertheless, there haven't been any video games bundled with the DS Lite until right now, with one of the most mind twisting games around.

The new Nintendo DS Lite Brain Age 2 bundle pack contains a limited edition DS Lite, in a seductive and bold, crimson red. The graphics are very sleek and look even better than they did before from the original DS, and that is shown in the latest sequel for the Nintendo DS, Brain Age 2, the sequel to last year's popular mind-bender. The gameplay here tests your mind as you go through many puzzles that test your mind and speed in games like word wheel, where you have to fill in a secret word one letter at a time, and piano player, where you practice reading sheet music and playing piano through the stylus. You also have great puzzle games like Su Doku, and many other great games.

Also included with this package, is a sleek and convient DS game holder, where you can store 3 different Nintendo DS game cartridges for your system. On top of that, you can also use the DS Lite, to play your Game Boy Advance games like Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Brothers 3 and Wario Ware: Twisted. It is also easy and convient to recharge for simple and fun gameplay, at a affordable price.

All in all, the Nintendo DS Lite Brain Age 2 bundle pack is the first time a DS game has been bundled with the DS Lite, and it absolutely delivers in the price and the gameplay. If you haven't yet bought the Nintendo DS, you have a opportunity to buy one of the best video game systems on the market today, and I absolutely recommend it a whole lot.

Customer Review: this one's for the "alpha moms"
Summary: 4 Stars

I won't spend a lot of time reviewing the DS Lite in general. Compared to its main "portable gaming" competitor (the Sony PlayStation Portable, or PSP), it has some strengths (wide selection of approachable games; novel "touch screen"; a little less expensive) and some weaknesses (maybe less "hardcore" games; lacks the PSP's multimedia capabilities). If you're not sure which system is for you, this is a good bet, but "hardcore" gamers will want to do some comparing.

Let me discuss this particular "version." Compared to my wife's pink DS Lite, I noticed a slight yellowish tint to the bottom screen, but might not have noticed if I hadn't been looking for it in a side-by-side comparison. This "yellowish tint" is apparently common for this model; whether it is particular to this model, or reflects a manufacturing change affecting all future DS Lites, I don't know. Caveat emptore.

The system looks and feels great. Not only is the top nice and shiny, but the bottom is somehow textured to feel very soft and posh compared to the usual plastic shell.

The leather case included in the bundle is very nice in that it looks like something a "grownup" would carry instead of the typical childlike totes you can buy; but it's as compact as possible, so it is slightly less practical if you want to lug around a pile of games. (Three snug individual pockets can hold a few extra DS games.)

Overall looks like a continued part of Nintendo's courting of grownups (particularly "alpha moms," as they call them) who might otherwise be self-conscious about carrying a toy around with them. This is something a yuppie mother would carry around; the brilliant choice of color scheme, though, retains a sense of masculinity along with the elegance.

The included game is not so deep that you won't also want to pick up some other games eventually (even very casual gamers will probably want something like Clubhouse Games and/or Battleship - Trouble - Sorry - Connect 4 for variety).

Customer Review: Great bundle
Summary: 4 Stars

I got this bundle for my birthday a little over a year ago, and I'm glad I did. The DS Lite is a fantastic handheld system, and I love that they've improved it from the original, chunky, heavy DS system; they've managed to make this thing lighter and more compact, while still keeping it incredibly sturdy and well-made. I also happen to love the color scheme of this particular system; the gorgeous, shiny crimson red cover pairs really nicely with the black on the rest of the system.

The case that this bundle comes with is really nice, too. Again, it's not so big and chunky where it weighs down your bag or pocket, but it will prevent your DS from getting scratched if you drop it or if it's banging around inside of your purse or backpack. The case also has three pockets inside of it to hold three DS games, though you will have to stretch them out a bit when you first get it because they're really snug and you may initially have a hard time trying to get your game cartridges out.

Finally, Brain Age 2, the game it comes with, is a lot of fun and a great incentive for parents who want to give their kids a more educational game that will help their brains. And the other nice thing is that it's a good game for adults to play, too; it helps to improve your "brain age," as the game refers to it, no matter what your age, and you can do it in "only minutes a day."

Overall, this is a great bundle if you're looking for a new DS. At the current price of $298.99, it's a little on the spendy side when it comes to buying a new handheld system, especially when most DS's now are going for something between $130 and $150. I was fortunate enough to buy it when it was new and only paid the introductory price of $129.99. However, this it is a great bundle, and a limited edition one at that, so if you're really looking into getting a quality DS with a little something extra (ie a game and a carrying case), I'd definitely recommend getting this bundle.

Customer Review: Nintendo is definitely at the top of their game!
Summary: 5 Stars

I haven't owned a Nintendo product since the original GameBoy came out. I have owned many other systems, and I game on my PC quite often. I bought this because I wanted something I could take with me, play at home without having to sit in a computer chair (nothing like a sofa), and I wanted games that were different than the mainstream.

PROS: This system rocks! The dual screens are easy to get used to, and once you pick up a few more games you can see how useful having dual screens is. The screens themselves look great as well. The battery life is fantastic, I've only run mine down once and that was after three days of play and not charging it. Having a touch screen really makes some games a lot more fun. The size of the game cartridge is great (like a thick SD memory card). I think the clamshell design of the unit makes it very portable and durable.

CONS: The touch screen can be a little fussy every now and again, but it's no big deal; you can recalibrate it whenever you need to. Graphics aren't as good as the Sony PSP, but I think that's Sony's main selling point. I have a PSP as well, and the load times for it are so much longer than the DS.

I'm not going to give the PSP points because it can play movies, or music, etc. etc. I wanted a game system and that's what I bought. I never play my PSP, the DS is what I pick up every time. The DS games are addicting (Brain Age 2 is a good game, but you'll want to pick up a couple more). I'm also glad I picked up this particular DS. I like the black one, and this is exactly the same except for the crimson lid.

I contemplated buying one for a month, and if you still really want one but you're just not sure if you should fork over the money...do it. It's a lot of fun.
