Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Nike SHJ020 Lightweight Neckband Headphone - BlackCustomer Review: Good product for the price Summary: 4 Stars
I have been using a succession of these headphones for the last 4 years for triathlon training and off-season weightlifting and other exercise. As one other review noted, after a year one of the speakers is bound to short out. The other will follow shortly. It seems that slightly stronger wire could be a benefit. Workout headphones do get abused more than normal headphones. That said, for the price these earphones do the job of staying on no matter what you are doing and provide a comfortable and functional alternative to ear buds. The placement of the cable in the middle of the headband is a design strength - it doesn't pull to one side or the other which is a real annoyance when doing exercise such as running or jumping rope.
Customer Review: My trusty road companion Summary: 5 Stars
I have used these for a few months and never want anything else. The fit is great, very lightweight, and the cable comes out in the neck which ensures you don't have cables tugging on your ears. I simply lead the cable under my shirt to my Nano and hardly notice they are on.
The sound quality is not special, and they are very open so they let a lot of noise in, but I find that excellent for running; I don't expect HiFi sound, and I don't want to miss what is going on around me.
The build quality is good. When I first unpacked them I was doubtful they would last, as light as they are, but they have for months now so no issues for me there. I would and have recommended this product to friends and family.
Customer Review: Didn't work right out of the box Summary: 1 Stars
Only the left side had sound. The bottom of the neckband has a small open groove where the thin wires are set in, but not totally enclosed & protected. I've read other reviews that stated "one side shorted" out within a few months and now I can understand why it might happen. They are very lightweight, but also somewhat fragile. I might have tried another pair except for one annoying detail. The neckband lays too low and sticks out too far at the back of my neck when I wear them as marked. I tried flipping them over, with the wire still feeding out the back, but that didn't seem right either. The design probably works ok for running, but not so great if you plan to wear them while doing any strength training.
Customer Review: Good sport headphones that do not last Summary: 3 Stars
I have owned two pairs of these headphones and was very happy with the overall performance. The first only lasted three months. At first I guessed I had mistreated them somehow so bought a second set which only lasted four months. I will not buy a third set.
I used them for running and they were both comfortable and had good sound. The cable emerging from the middle of the connecting band was especially nice. Unfortunately the cable is not up to the repetitive flexing that occurs during heavy exercise. It fails near the connection point with the connecting band. I run about 100 miles a month so they last for 300-400 miles. If you run less miles per month I suspect they will last longer in calendar days.
Customer Review: Breaks in less than a year Summary: 2 Stars
I bought 2 of these, one for my husband and one for me. Mainly used for running. It has a great fit and is extremely lightweight, making it an ideal sports headphone.
However, after 9 months, the left side of my headphones died on me. Not surprisingly, my husband's pair also had one of the headphone speakers fail after only 3 months. We took pretty good care of them and put them in a specific cubby hole after every run. These headphones just DO NOT LAST. It's a real shame because I liked them so much. But unlike some other reviewers here, I'm not going to foolishly continue to buy these year after year (or in our case every few months). Don't throw your money out. Get some durable headphones.
