Customer Review: Breaks way too easily
Summary: 3 Stars

These are the best lightweight headphones I've found for running or working in the yard. However, they've jacked the price up a full eight dollars since the last set I ordered less than three months ago. Now I'm about to buy my fourth set in two years, because once again, the connection between the headphone and the jack has gone out in one channel. With the overly lengthy cord that dangles behind your back, it's very easy for it to accidentally hook on something as you pass by and yank it, at which point it apparently severs a wire and renders them useless (and I've had no luck repairing them). Extremely irritating, so be careful to tuck the extra cord away in a pocket or somewhere. Update April 30, 2009: My fourth pair broke today; no pull or yank, the left channel just suddenly stopped working. Ridiculous -- never again.

Customer Review: Great design, poor quality
Summary: 2 Stars

I read dozens of reviews before settling on these headphones. Only one member claimed to have to replace them every 12mths because of "shorting", so I figured I could deal with that if it was worse case scenario. Well, mine lasted less than 3 weeks! I was truly disappointed, as I found them to be the perfect design for running, which is what I bought them for. They're so comfortable that I didn't even realize I was wearing them. Seriously. Sound was very decent.

However, I'm returning them for a refund instead of an exchange. They only survived 8 running days for me, and I'm an older guy who takes care to baby little gadgets like this. I don't want to chance getting another defective pair. The ugly lime green Sennheiser pair is starting to look like a reality.

Customer Review: Best runner's headphones
Summary: 4 Stars

I have a pair of these from a Nike branded MP3 player that I bought several years ago. From a comfort and usability standpoint, I haven't found anything that comes close to these headphones.

The good:
The headphones won't fall off your head or out of your ears.
They are designed so you can hear surrounding noises (oncoming cars, etc.)
They are very lightweight

The bad:
The cable is very thin and lightweight so it will eventually short out. It's inevitable.

I've spent hundreds of dollars trying to find a decent set of headphones to use while running, and I'm really glad that Philips is still making these. If they could figure out a way to make them more durable, I would've given it five stars instead of four.

Customer Review: On my fourth pair now...
Summary: 4 Stars

I run quite a bit and have gone through many pairs of headphones in doing so. I came across these a few years ago and have been very satisfied. Like another commenter said, eventually one side shorts out because of a cable break where the cord meets the plastic. However, that's not enough to deter me from getting them again. I find each pair lasts about 300 miles. I run in rain, heat, and snow, so the headphones get abused.

The sound quality is better than iPod earbuds and I actually like the fact that they let in a fair amount of ambient noise - I want to hear that car coming up behind me!

If they were more durable, they'd get 5 stars. However, they are better than any other headphone I've used for running, so they still get 4 stars.

Customer Review: Still confused about the design...
Summary: 3 Stars

I just received this in the mail today. They are very light, but when I wear them as I think they're meant to be worn, they don't stay in my ears at all. However, my mom suggested that I try wearing them a different way (with the side marked "R" on my left ear, the side marked "L" on my right ear, and the curved parts hooked over each ear - so basically back-to-front and upside-down), and this seems to work far better. No joke. They don't fall out at all. They're still a tad bit uncomfortable, but they seem like they'd actually work pretty well for running. I'm still not sure if the "L"/"R" markings are misplaced and the headphones are actually supposed to be worn this way or not. So give it a shot the other way, maybe that'll work for you too.
