Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Netgear GS105NA Giga Switch 5Pt MetalCustomer Review: Easy to install, simple to use Summary: 5 StarsThis was purchased to create a fast link to a new HOME SERVER with a gig NIC. It was PnP, that simple. Just make sure you use CAT 5e or CAT 6 wire. to get the speed
Customer Review: disappointing Summary: 1 Starsi got this to replace a d-link gigabit switch switch. it worked for a few months, then the other day, something went wrong & it stopped transferring packets & just flashed its link lights. resetting it didn't help. i pulled it from the network & replaced it with an older linksys switch i've kept around. discovered both my imac & my lacie 2big network raid were still unable to connect. resetting their respective ethernet settings finally restored my network but gave me quite a fright. the lacie 2big network raid is still not right - see my review of that gadget.
i'd previously had a higher opinion of netgear. now i think i'll stick to linksys ...
Customer Review: Plug 'n play gigabit simplicity Summary: 5 StarsAs the title suggests, it's as simple as plugging in the cables & off you go. I have mine mounted on a wall in my basement, so heat, as others have stated, isn't an issue. This device is the interface between my PS3 & PC, & I've noticed a huge performance difference between this & my Linksys WRT54G I was using before.
Customer Review: Switch vs. Hub Summary: 5 StarsI had a 5-port HUB (using 3 of them) across the room from my main system. When transferring files I got a steady stream of collisions. Really slowed down the transfer due to all the retransmissions.
The SWITCH was truly Plug & Play. Plugged everything in and it worked. It did all the address look-up and handshaking without human involvement. File transfers now run at full speed with no collisions.
Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Works great, nice little item when you need to share offices Summary: 5 StarsOur company is growing by leaps and bounds to the point that we have several offices that are being shared. When the offices were built there was only a single data port going to each, so rather than hire someone to come in and pull new wire to each of the offices, I instead used these to share the office single dataport.
They work great, and I have had no problems.
