Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of NETGEAR WN121T RangeMax Next Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter

Customer Review: Network controller program quirky
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall the product is good. Range and strength of signal are excellent.

However, the network controller program included is hard to setup--I had to install and uninstall numerous times before it would work, and I still do not know what I finally did right. It would connect and then after a few seconds it would disconnect, and do this over and over, never settling on a stable connection (or channel). The Belkin program cannot be disabled to allow Windows to control the wireless network without uninstalling it completely and then going through the setup again. Also, I think there is an incompatibility with this program and the latest release of Network Magic.

At the moment it is working fine. Next time I will try another brand just to see if the software is the issue.

Customer Review: Please Beware

Do not purchase this product. I have spent *countless* hours with Netgear's tech support, have had the adapter replaced, and even hired a computer network specialist, and it still does not work properly.

The setup process was excruciating, the technical support is not helpful (very long wait times, no call backs, and no resolutions other then that they replaced my defective adapter for another defective adapter).

This product is UNRELIABLE and a complete waste of money. I have had mine for about two months and I constantly loose my internet connection or it freezes up my computer.
If you're looking for a great wireless adapter, try ASUS. I bought one for around $20 and have had zero issues.

Customer Review: Easy set up and great speed.
Summary: 5 Stars

What a difference from my old 802.11b network. This adaptor installed and found my wireless network in a matter of minutes. My wireless internet connection is now indistinguisible from my wired connection. Both run at about 6mbps now on Speakesy Speedtest. I was originally wary of buying the USB adaptor instead of the PCI connection, but I was told that the USB interface is so fast it would not make a noticable difference, and now I believe it. For ease of set up and speed I give this product two thumbs way up. (Using on a Windows XP system with Netgear WNR834B draft-N router).

Customer Review: absolute garbage - Do not buy or waste money

Not only is the signal horrible, but the drivers are something I have never seen before. The Device manager was actually recongizing this as netgear, and when I rebooted it recognized it as some other brand I never heard of. After trying the CD that came in the box, then uninstalling and downloading software and trying that, I had spend HOURs installing this. I am not new kid on the block either. The software is so buggy, I spend days on this piece of junk. I hope I never see one of these again as long as I live. Just doesnt work!

Customer Review: Junk
Summary: 1 Stars

Ever since I got this adapter, my computer has been randomly freezing up and crashing. I've narrowed it down to this adapter as being the source of the problem. I've done all the trouble shooting I can do, been to Netgear's site, updated drivers, etc., etc. The problems still exist and Netgear's customer service is nonexistent.

There's too much competition in the market for products and service of this quality. Maybe this adapter won't give you any problems, but I'd avoid the headaches and try another brand.
