Great Design ... vertical or horizontal mounting ... very small ( it looks like a mini router )
it's a perfect switch ... works seamlessly with my airport extreme dual ...
speeds are exactly the same with or without it
I'm getting full gigabit speeds
average to windows 7 pc is 115 MB/s that's 920 Mbits/s
HIGHLY RECOMMEND ... also $10 dollar mail in rebate!
IMPORTANT ... To get gigabit speeds most overlooked items are "CABLES"
I invested into highest rated cables that are also all shielded and running a minuim of 24awgx4 (24gage wire times 4) which is great than just 24awg
makes a huge difference ... I also have 23awgx4 (cat7 rated) cables which are actually faster but 10 MB/s
Minimum rating i would go with is cat6 but look close ... alot of cat6, cat6a and even cat7 cables are running 27awg gage copper ... they say 550mhz
ect ect ... be careful ... recently I recived some cat7 cables that were almost half the diameter of my cat6 rated monster advanced (which are the
only cables that are under rated, they are the only cables I've purchased that perform faster than their marked ratings ... running at cat7 speeds
10 Gbits)
Last note is ... if your wifi/router and or Ethernet card is only 100mbit ... you're never going to get faster than 10 MB/s
G/L i hope i saved some people money ... I've recently wasted over 80 dollars in Ethernet cables until i found ones that actually are gigabit worthy ...
one common aspect was they were all Shielded.

NETGEAR's GS600 series switches are designed for use in a home and small office, housed in a compact white case that blends into your home decor. A fanless design keeps operation both silent and more reliable, and ports are located in the rear to reduce cable clutter. Each port has status LEDs for link and activity. The switch can be placed on a flat surface or vertically on the included stand.
Simple Setup and Stellar Performance
Plug in your Ethernet cables and connect a power cord, and you're ready to go. There is no software to install or settings to configure. The switch features auto negotiation, which automatically obtains the right speed and mode, and Auto Uplink adjusts for the different types of Ethernet cables. There is no need for toggle switches or special crossover cables. The device can seamlessly integrate 10, 100, and 1000 Mbps devices on the same network and honors Layer 2 priority tags.
All ports deliver up to 2000 Mbps speed and the switch supports 9,000 byte frames when set to support jumbo frames. There is a 1 Mb packet buffer memory and support for a MAC address database of 4,000.
