Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of NZXT CRYO LX Aluminum Notebook Cooler 15-Inch to 19-Inch with 120MM Adjustable Fans - Black (CRYO LX BLACK)Customer Review: Notebook Cooler Summary: 5 Stars
This notebook cooler is a must for those wanting a solid, well built, and perfectly functioning fan cooler. Three fans operating with an adjustable speed control wheel will do the job of cooling your laptop to a safe and comfortable temp range. Don't expect a massive cooling temp drop. For purposes of keeping your laptop in a safe range don't hesitate in purchasing this unit.
Customer service was responsive and interested in helping me when I called them .
Purhaps in the future they could design fans that rotate at a higher cfm (keeping the 120mm size) and increasing the power supply to run these newly designed higher efficiency fans.
Everything considered, I would suggest the purchase of this product to anyone wanting a truely super cooler.
Customer Review: Cools great, but died after 1 month usage Summary: 1 Stars
I was under the impression that this was a durable and efficient cooler. It DID do a great job of cooling my laptop when it worked, but it died (under normal 1-3 hour per day usage) after about a month. It will not power up at all. The AC connector seems loose, so that is likely the cause. I also found the folding mechanism to be obnoxious as I don't think it's capable of locking in the fold or unfolded position. This causes the metal part that folds to swing freely - which can be quite irritating when moving the laptop around. The cooler is also heavy. When paired with an Alienware M17X, the total weight of the laptop and cooler is close to 20 pounds. If the cooler didn't die on me, I'd rate it 3 stars... alas... it has become a paperweight after 1 month use.
Customer Review: Like It, but I Don't Love It Summary: 4 Stars
I have a 19 inch Alienware Area 51 that has burned through two video cards due to extreme heat, even with the built-in heat sink. After having the thermal paste reapplied to the card by my local computer techs, it was recommended I buy a notebook cooler for extra protection. This is a nice product BUT not exactly ideal for a 19 inch mammoth gaming notebook, as there are no fans in the front, where I need the fans the most. Also, the fans that are there do not put out nearly as much air as I had hoped. If you have a smaller notebook with heat problems more in the middle and rear of your notebook, this product will work fine for you. Otherwise, I would keep looking, as I am, for a product more suited for your needs and with higher fan power.
Customer Review: Finally a Cooler that works Summary: 5 Stars
I have a new envy 14 i7 and before buying the cryo cooler it reached 92 degrees Celsius easily when playing games. I looked at countless reviews before deciding and I cme down to two choices - CRYO LX OR Zalman ZM-NC2000. both are excellent depending on where your laptop gets hot. the cryo lx cools the back of your laptop and the Zalman ZM-NC2000 cools the front. Because my envy 14 generates heat in upper right part of the pc the cryo lx was the best choice. even though there is a smaller cryo sm the lx was a much better choice for my 14.5in and its not to big at all, the extra power was important(another fan). Would definitely recommend. Solid built.
Customer Review: Nearly perfect Summary: 4 Stars
All in all it does a great job at keeping my laptop cool, i work on it for fairly prolonged stretches and before hand i was having serious issues with over heating inspite of my own efforts to keep the base aerated...can't fault it for that but what i am afraid is quite annoying is that it doesn't plug into a wall and runs off usb power instead so the usb plugs at the back are useless for webcams, charging mp3 players etc, though they work perfectly well at data transfer....running off a wall plug that would provide more power and would make this perfect, and for this price its not too much too expect and its why it looses a star for me...
