Customer Review: Great Fit, Short Adapter Cord

This cooler is a great fit for my 17" but the USB adapter cord is very short (12-inches). It barely reaches to either left or right hand hand ports.
There were no instructions in the box as to how to use the USB to 3mm plug adapter nor how to "adjust" the fan settings. There is an additional external plug but no information on what it is for. Also, the item description says it can power external HD's but not how. Again there is a lack of enclosed instructions.

This thing does what I want. It cools my 17 inch HP notebook,doesn't make a lot of noise (even at maximum speed),and is very stable so my computer doesn't slide all over the place. It folds in half for portability,although due to it's beefy all-aluminum construction it's a bit heavy. No biggie for me,since my computer is used as a replacement for a desktop unit and it's seldom used as a portable. A quality product that feels like it will last a good while.Customer Review: Distracting oscillating hum develops after 30 - 60 minutes

After 30 - 60 minutes of use, unit develops an easily heard oscillating hum that is from the fan/motor. This happened 10 tens in a row. Noise was too distracting for me to keep the device and I returned it and bought an Antec Unbeatable Notebook Cooler 200. I have 3 other Antecs and they work great on 15 and 17" Mac and Lenovo laptops. I missed USB connections of the NZXT but just bought a 7-Port USB 2.0 Hub, Black

I have a Toshiba A305 Satellite, which runs fairly hot and I am disabled so I tend to use it frequently in bed. This cooler is so effective that the bottom of my laptop is actually cool to the touch after running for extended periods of time. The angled surface makes typing easier. Even at the highest fan speed the noise is barely noticeable and the 4 rear usb ports are convenient at times. If heat is a concern you can't do better than this.Customer Review: Most features available for this kind of device.

I previously owned a Zalman ZM-NC2000 cooler Notebook Cooler, Silver, ZM-NC2000
I was very happy with this cooler. However, this NZXT product is far superior. The three HUGE fans, external power supply, and 4 additional USB connections are great. Additionally, this cooler folds down to a smaller profile than the Zalman device.
