Customer Review: Don't buy this battery--it's a cheap knock-off with a fraudulent name

Do NOT buy this battery. It is a fake and damaged my laptop. It has all the markings of an Apple but it only looks like an Apple product. It wouldn't fit flush, it scratched any furniture it went on, it did not hold a charge at all (even after multiple attempts, including several multi-hour overnight attempts). This is an awful product that could damage your computer. If you have it, get rid of it as soon as you can, at least remove it and put your old low-charge battery back in until you get a new 'authentic' Apple battery. As one other reviewer mentioned his mother board fried/died. I have heard one other person I know say the same. When the battery was in my mac it actually started to burn my leg it runs so hot. I have used the laptop "on my lap" for 2 years and never had this sensation before. Also, like others have said, the charge indicator lights on the battery do not work correctly and give you no real indication of what the battery has done or its current status. My laptop would turn off without notice, without warning. I nearly lost several documents doing this. I also can't imagine that could be good for the operating system of the computer.
When I took my laptop to the genius bar at an Apple store, the technician immediately noticed the off-color aluminum covering on the battery, including the fact that the battery didn't even sit flush in the computer. The technician showed me the battery was one of the best Apple battery knock-offs/fakes he had seen so far, with the exception of the non-matching aluminum, a slightly different font, a missing hologram "recycle" sticker, an excess bar-code sticker (which apple does not place) and the fact the battery does not even fully fit my computer. Because of the bad fit, the battery does not even make good contacts with the body of the PC and could be leading to unnecessary power surges and sudden power failure (which DID occur to me many times). The technicians said there are several companies in China making unofficial, fraudulent Apple-branded products and making billions off of unsuspecting consumers.
Do not waste your money or harm your computer. Send the battery back asking for a refund. Consider buying an official Apple product from an official Apple retailer, with the slightly higher pricetag as "insurance" on your Apple investment. I am not a big corporate fan. I believe in cheaper pricing and competition but it is not worth sacrificing the products I DO have and the investing I have made thus far in my Apple products. In this transaction I LOST $80 trying to save $40 for my battery--what did I gain--nothing, except a more cautious awareness of the wild west of internet marketing and sales, even through Amazon. Amazon is just the conduit for mixing some of these fraudulent companies along with the good trustworthy vendors. Only you can weed the bad ones out.
