Customer Review: Not a Dell product, not as pictured, & don't even try it with the Inspiron 1000!

Don't even try it if you own a Dell Inspiron 1000! In fact, don't try it at all! I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing this item. It was my second attempt to get the correct AC Adapter for my Inspiron 1000. First, it does say it's a Dell adapter in the description and the brand on the adapter says "Clear Max" (1st bad sign). Next, the adapter is not as pictured, featuring a straight connector where it plugs into the computer (don't know exactly what it's called), whereas the original Dell charger had an L-shape and the yellow ring around the connector. The original Dell adapter fit snugly; this one wiggles because it is too small and I have to keep moving it around, sometimes even holding it in the air for the computer to recognize that it's attached. I agree with the reviews that it is not only deceptive, but it is a piece of junk that doesn't work with the computer well and is most definitely not the item pictured!! Unfortunately, I had to keep one of the adapters so I kept the first one I ordered because it seemed to connect more snugly and cause me fewer problems than the first. I also am dumbfounded that they are able to list it as "Dell" when it clearly is not a Dell product. I would say run, run fast away from this product and try to find a genuine dell part; the problem with this is that, with the listings so misleading as to read "Dell" when it isn't, how do you know when you're actually ordering a genuine Dell product?? Next time, I'll spend the extra money and call Dell directly and order an adapter that is actually suited to my machine. Very disappointing product!! Even as I write this, my battery light is flashing on and off *while the adapter is plugged into it!!* The worst purchase I've ever made from Amazon.
