Customer Review: Amazing product...
Summary: 5 Stars

I was not sure if this video glasses was going to be a good buy or some of that ones when the item look good on the picture but on real life make you say "it's this the same?..."

Well I can't be more happy! the video quality its really good, clear and bright and the definition is amazing (I can even read subtitles if I want whitn no problem!) the only bad part is the fact that there is no control for hue and saturation only for contrast and brigthness (adjusting the contrast change too the level of saturation on color) and some movies look a little bit offset on the color.

What I can say about the audio... Its good, good enought to make my sister who try the MyVu say "It sounds cool!", I can control all the sound features from my Archos so I just set the volumen arround the middle section and I'm more than pleased.

How the glasses fit on my face it's ok, the weight is not an issue if you use the magnetic clip so the power/control unit don't pull down, the lengh of the cables is more than enought for most of the aplications.

Battery power... well I have watch 2 or 3 movies and I still not drain out the batteries (I'm charging the MyVu using a external USB charger, the battery get full on one or 2 hours, if I use the USB from the Pc takes forever). I see a couple of reviews from people having trouble charging the glasses, I guess a bad batch MyVu Crystal is responsable of this because my works fine.

This one is a great device for the people who travel a lot, or for the ones who want to watch a movie or play videogames and free a TV for some one else, and the price make the purchase sweet!

Customer Review: Some Things to Consider Before Buying These...
Summary: 1 Stars

My friend let me try his. Flimsy quality - feels like the plastic will break if you open them too fast. Like many other folks, they also arrived with a dead battery that would NOT hold a charge. There are also too many cables/cords hanging down when hooking these things up to a portable DVD player, which make these quite heavy to wear and started hurting the bridge of my nose after only a few minutes.

Something else people should know - For some reason, Myvu has opted to make these with a rechargeable battery that is NON-REPLACEABLE. It took 2 emails and a phone call to Myvu to FINALLY get them to confess to this. The ENTIRE PENDANT/BATTERY PACK must be replaced ($100 + S&H), is ONLY avalable thru Myvu and is currently UNAVAILABLE as of this writing. I was told that, under the best of circumstances, the rechargeable battery will last 3-4 years. Well, according to all the reviews I'm reading here this is simply NOT the case. Since the previous "Crystal" model and the new "Crystal EV" model both use the same pendant/battery pack, one assumes Myvu rotates their stock, so these viewers are shipping with the oldest stock of pendants FIRST with a rechargeable battery life of "ZERO" to "???". Yours might arrive with a TOTALLY DEAD battery that won't hold a charge, might charge for a few months, a year, 2 years...? Can you say MORE MONEY? Looks like Myvu will be making lots of money in future revenues for replacement parts. Smart marketing!

A personal viewer that will cost $400 (+ tax, + S&H) over the next year or so when just the battery needs replaced?

I'LL PASS.

Customer Review: Works great, feel a bit dorky
Summary: 4 Stars

Bought the MyVu Crystal Black before a LONG international flight. Works great and screen is clearer that one would expect.

Other companies block out all outside light which is good, but sometimes someone is trying to get your attention and with the MyVu you see something out of the corner of your eye. I was worried about the outside distractions, but I kind of like it. If someone wants to make fun of you for wearing the glasses, you can catch them in the act.

The weight of the glasses can begin to bother you after about 5 or 6 hours. It is bearable, but can cause some discomfort.

I carry a Wall powered USB charging cable (not included) because it charges much quicker than linking to a computer. I find myself switching the charging cable back and forth from the iPod and MyVu to make sure the battery power lasts.

The 2 things I would change are the ability to change the earphones. While they work great now, I fear if they break, there goes the unit. Right now it is fine though. I would also like to see a reasonably priced spare battery packs.

Overall. I love the glasses and am happy with my purchase.

Note, buy the hard case. I would worry that the glasses would break while traveling, but the hard case protects it much better than the soft pouch case (like you get when you buy a pair of sun glasses.)

Customer Review: Big Battery Problems
Summary: 3 Stars

First, this item said in stock, but the ship date was 50 days away. Anyway, it took 4 purchases to get a working Myvu Crystal. My first attempt on Ebay didn't work because the battery wouldn't charge. My next attempt was Amazon and their mysterious order delay. Then I just went to BestBuy with a coupon and bought one. It had the same battery problem. Further, it had apparently been returned by somebody else because the battery compartment was cracked which I bet indicates somebody trying to swap their dead battery. So I went back to BestBuy and exchanged it for a working (knock on wood) Myvu. So, two dead batteries and I bet Amazon's order problem is also due to battery related inventory trouble. It doesn't appear that replacing the battery is intended as an option, by the way, as evidenced by the cracked case.

Having said all of that I do like it and if the battery doesn't die I'll be happy with the purchase.

Cool Uses:
- Watching TV in bed without irritating your bed-mate with all the light from a laptop.
- Watching risque material on an airplane without having to cover the screen every time there is nudity

Problems:
- Battery
- Also seems like the volume control on the pendant doesn't work quite right, but I'll just use the IPod volume rather than return it again.

Customer Review: not what it seems

i just purchased this item with the intention of giving the patients at my wifes dental clinic some thing to watch while she works on their teeth, now! first; when the package arrived it did not have an instructions manual you have to down load it from their site and it does not give proper info like; "how long you should charge the battery before using it?", also it does not explain some of the things like "if you can use the glasses while conected to the charger?", also they dont come with the wall charger witch they recommend for a better charge.... they did not say that the glasses them self have batteries on them and i do not know where they are, or if; you can take them out is one of those questions, that we will never know unless we meet the maker personally.. also when i try calling the customer service line so they can assist me and answer some of my questions they send you to an automated voice mail to leave name and number they call back!!, nice i just spent $300.00 and i dont know how this things really work and what capabilities they have, also when you wear them they slide from your face, like if they where to heavy. the nose piece is adjustable but it does not do the trick... this is an item for showing off than for really using it...... i regret buying them... 35 year old marine from costa rica
