Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of UltraShip 55 lb. Digital Postal Shipping & Kitchen ScaleCustomer Review: great scale for the price Summary: 4 Stars
This one comes with the AC adapter. Whoever uses a battery-operated postal scale is beyond me, but in any case the next higher model than this one(the 75 lb scale of the same company that is also here on Amazon) uses batteries as well and does NOT come with the ac adapter, and i never ship anything that heavy so this was the right choice for me, and probably is for most people who have home weighing needs. Sorry to see that other people had bad experiences with this but for me it is working great. Just a reminder that this scale doesn't come with preprogrammed rates and that sort of thing, but if you print postage online with paypal all you need is the weight and they calculate the rest, the same as if you would go stand in the ridiculously long USPS line and go to the window. It also has the following units of weight: Grams, Pound-ounces, Kilograms, Pounds, and ounces. Great product.
Customer Review: Does not work at all Summary: 1 Stars
It doesn't work. It doesn't even hit zero when turned on. The display keeps showing random numbers. This is brand new, out of the box and it doesn't work at all.
First the adapter came weeks after as the vendor said that he had run out and would I like to go and get one from somewhere else! It did come eventually.
After trying to figure out what could be the matter with the scale, I understand that to recalibrate it requires having specific, heavy weights to get it to zero itself. Who has this kind of equipment? It is still randomly flashing numbers, has never managed to stay still at zero and, when something of known weight is placed on it (1 lb) it keeps flashing between .78 and .65 and (it seems) every number in between.
What a waste of time and money. Ordered a USPS scale as a replacement.
Customer Review: Perfect scale Summary: 5 Stars
This scale is perfect for any applications I can think of. Staples didn't have anything close, and the price is a real baragin. We're using it to weigh a baby to monitor weight gain, so the low-range accuracy is important. We brought the baby home from the Dr's office and weighed him again within half an hour and this scale weighs the same as the Dr.'s scale. Especially useful for this application is the tare button, the hold-the-number-on-the-display button and the unit conversion button, so we can track weight in grams but easily tell family about pounds and ounces. This seller got a shipment of the black units in instead of the silver and sent that with a note offering exchange if the color wasn't satisfactory - I was glad to get the scale right away and must say the black color is probably the best one (see the rightmost picture above).
Customer Review: Great Value for Your Money ! Summary: 4 Stars
We have this product for over 2 months now and are very satisfied with the performance and the accuracy of the scale. The value for the money is absolutely there and we wish they would have somewhere said that it does not come with the power adapter and one has to buy that as optional item. We would not have cared paying few extra bucks for the power adapter to save on the batteries. Or we would have bought the optional adapter if they had the picture on the site either depicting the same or they would have suggested the same on the site.
We assumed that it comes with the adapter when we bought it, but were quite dissapointed to find one missing. The overall performance of the weigh machine takes away that one negative feature to some extent as the main purpose of the instrument is to weigh and weigh accuratelty, which it does.
Customer Review: WHO HAS A 20 LB WEIGHT? LOWBALL! Summary: 1 Stars
The product description FAILS TO MENTION two critical points about this scale. First point, you must spend a fortune on batteries because no AC adapter comes with it. Second point, you must spend another $100 plus on a 20 kg test weight to "calibrate" the scale.
I recommend spending $100 on a scale that WORKS and doesn't need to "calibrate." I bought this for my wife for Christmas one year and she has not been able to use it once due to the 20 kg calibration problem. I feel cheated.
I can't imagine this company had any intentions of being ethical about this piece of garbage. This was a lowball at its best. People like this shouldn't be allowed to operate businesses. This kind of business behavior should require jail time for THEFT of people's time and money. White collar crime at its best!
