Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of UltraShip 55 lb. Digital Postal Shipping & Kitchen ScaleCustomer Review: Good Scale, some flaws Summary: 3 Stars
This scale seems to operate very well. I've had only one problem with it, and it is a big problem. The instructions are poorly written, obviously written overseas. When trying to interpret the instructions in order to turn off the backlight, I ended up entering calibration mode. To correct this, one would need an accurate 10 Kg and 20 Kg weight. There is no way of exiting "calibration mode" once you are in it. You will need to locate some weights and reset the scale. I did the best I could with the weights I had at my house for weightlifting. They are not accurate, and so my scale will never be accurate. FOREVER. unless I find some accurate 10 Kg and 20 Kg weights. Why should I have to go to all the trouble to find or buy these weights? Why can't they have an "exit calibration mode" option. And why can't they write decent instructions that make sense and use correct English. That would be step number one for the manufacturer.
Customer Review: Great for online ensure correct postage...... Summary: 5 Stars
I recently started selling on eBay. It was a pain to get to the post office & discover I uncharged for shipping. A friend recommended getting this scale (she has the silver one). I received this scale quickly and began using it immediately. I have only used it for smaller things (i.e. books, baseball cards, & cake pans) but I have found that it weighs things perfectly. I can now print a shipping label through PayPal and toss it in the mailbox - no more waiting in line at the post office.
I gave this scale 5 stars because this scale not only saves me from undercharging on postage but, it saves me time. I do recommend you get the ac adapter (ULTRASHIP POWER SUPPLY for all MYWEIGH ULTRASHIP SERIES DIGITAL POSTAL SCALES), if you are going to be using it frequently --- Otherwise it takes 4 C batteries ---
Customer Review: Good features, defective display. Summary: 3 Stars
This scale had all the features I was looking for, and was a very good price and had mostly good reviews so I tried it. When it arrived, I realized that the numbers in the display were only visible if you were looking down from directly above it or up from below it. If you looked at the display straight on, they were invisible!
I assume that that was a defect, since there would be no way to read the scale with something on the tray with the display like this, so I sent it back and am not going to try an exact replacement.
The scale weighed things comparably to my smaller digital kitchen scale that I have used for years. I think there was maybe a variation of .05 to .1 oz, which is certainly acceptable.
I would have kept this scale had it not had the display problems, but because it did I plan to look further for a similar product from a different maker.
Customer Review: Ultrahip Digital Scale Summary: 5 Stars
The Ultraship 55 lb Electronic Scale was purchased to be used as a postal scale. The scale is so accurate it can also be used in the kitchen. We found that this digital scale is more accurate than our Peluse 100 lb. shipping scale that we have used for years. The scale also weighs in grams and ounces.
The Ultraship 55 can work with batteries but we opted to get the power supply and they work well together.
We did not consider the possibility of weighing large packages but by switching to pounds we can weigh our boxes that ship via UPS or Fex Ex. This was a nice surprise and made it easier to process packages without pricing up the Peluze scale from under the shipping bench..
It is a simple matter to zero out the scale so you can use a container to hold items that could fall off the plate that holds the box.
We highly recommend this scale.
Customer Review: Great Scale - Excellent Price, Reliability and Feature Set. The detachable controls are NICE Summary: 5 Stars
I just ordered my 2nd one. My first was perfect and a really nice shade of cobalt blue. This time I'm getting black to match everything else in the kitchen. I use it for weighing coffee (I home roast), and for shipping packages. So it's great for detailed stuff - down to .1 per OZ, making it perfect for kitchen use. And also great for postal shipping, letters or packages.
FYI - my last one worked just fine for many years - and somehow I lost it during my last move. It held up for YEARS of hard use without complaint. So it's only my fault alone that I'm buying a 2nd one. The newer model can handle even more load - incredible - 55#!!! I've never needed to ship more than 30 but it's nice to know that the head room is there.
It's also really nice to be able to detach the faceplate. Once in a while I ship a larger box out for eBay and this is a great feature.
