Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Bluetooth Stereo HeadphonesCustomer Review: Jammion No Strings! Summary: 4 Stars
If you have an MP3 capable phone w/Bluetooth and use it to listen to music you have to get one of these. I have an I Phone 3G and use it all the time to listen to music. From just sitting back relaxing to cruising on my Harley, cutting the grass, etc..... I was always getting the headphone wires caught on something and to really enjoy it during physical activities was ridiculous. That is no longer a problem!
I have turned at least 8 people on to these (iPhone and Blackberry owners) and they are all happy with theirs. All have paid less than $50 delivered.
Read the manual and you will see most of the bad reviews are from people who haven't!
It works Great!
The only thing I would change is the max volume, they're as loud as regular wired headphones but when riding I want a little more volume, above 40MPH you start to lose the music to road & wind sounds, but they're not coming off.
I bought an "Altec Lansing" version before I found these and they were nice but much more bulky and couldn't wear them on the bike. These fit great and stay on up past 80 mph. All the bells and whistles, great as a hands free phone as well. My I Phone will pause the music on an inbound call and ring in your left ear, just hit a button on the headset and you're taking the call. These only have sound in the left ear when on the phone but sound great from both ends. All controls are at the ear pieces and are easy to use. Small and light weight they truly allow me to be JAMMIN NO STRINGS!
Customer Review: Pretty good with glitches Summary: 3 Stars
I use this product when running. I have purchased two of these:
Pros: 1) Very portable and you don't get those headphone cords wrapped up on your glasses, arm, shirt, etc... This is the most compelling reason to buy these.
2) The sound quality is very good.
3) They fit well and I can wear them for over an hour without discomfort.
4) It syncs with my iPod very well.
Cons: 1) The first pair I got started losing its charge in less than an hour after about two months of use. I was doing about 5 runs per week of around 45 mins each. I liked it so much otherwise that I bought a second pair and just figured that I got a bad pair. After letting it stay discharged for about a month, it seems to hold a charge well now. However after about 50min or 1 hour it will begin to start skipping ahead to the next track. Not so bad if listening to music but painful when listening to audiobooks.
2) My second pair worked well for about two months but then I could not adjust the audio volume. Initially it wouldn't get louder but would adjust lower. Now I can't get it back loud enough to hear. I am in the process of letting it stay discharged for a couple of months to see if it resets itself.
Despite the above I really love the headphones and I am willing to keep using them for the time being. There seems to be a little durability issue here. On long runs of an hour or so I have started using my old standard plug in headphones, but I haven't given up on the motorolas just yet.
Customer Review: Functional Summary: 2 Stars
Well, it works. It connects well at short range (of around 10 ft) and does remember its most recent connections (1 for each mobile and HQ audio source). The hands free remote control options are also very intuitive and easy to get used to, as the most frequently used functions get their own dedicated buttons.
Issues I had with it was that first, it does not mold itself. It is made to stay in that shape, so if you do not fit perfectly into it (which you won't), it will always be awkward and try to slide off. It also is rather tiring for the ears.
Also, the sound quality is not ideal. There is a treble quality to music and a lack of bass. Also important to note is that, as it does not fit well and does not have noise cancelling, it will be difficult to hear anything in noisy areas such as on the streets or in a restaurant.
I should also mention that battery life is disappointingly short at 6 hours sharp. No longer, no shorter.
Although the behind-the-head design look space-age for the first hour or so, you soon will realize that you can not lie back against a headrest or pillow. Well, it is a pair of headphones designed for sports, I guess, so they did not worry about that too much. However, it fails at even that as it weighs down your ears, does not fit itself to you, and the back flap (that covers the recharging port) does not like to stay closed (is flimsy).
All in all, I would say invest your money somewhere else. Like the iLuv i913.
Customer Review: works but with issues Summary: 3 Stars
Well, bottom line is that it does work. The sound quality is good. I used it predominantly in the gym and while cycling (road and MTB.) Here's the deal:
Pros: sound quality, lightweight, looks pretty cool
Cons: Can't be used efficiently with most sunglasses, can not be used if source device is in front of you
Summary: It works and does what it is supposed to do but with the following issues. If you wear any type of plastic wrap-around sunglasses that have thick temple straps then these won't fit well on your head. Reason: The headphones are designed to grip your head just slightly above your ears...the exact same place where your sunglasses typically sit on your head. As a result, if you try to use these while wearing your sunglasses they will not remain stable on your head. Wire frame glasses/sunglasses are the only ones you'll be able to wear. Probably ok with goggle straps though. Next issue...since the receiver technology is located on the back of your head your source device needs to be located behind you as well. If your device is in your front pocket or around your neck you will experience significant interruption to your signal. It gets quite annoying actually. I've been able to use it with my device on my arm with little interruption. The only time I've used it with NO problems is when MTBing and the source device was in my backpack.
Customer Review: From Great, to Good, to Okay, to WORST? Summary: 1 Stars
I thought I made a good choice buying the S9, but I was wrong. I have an iphone, so buying a bluetooth headset was only a matter of time. I only used the S9 about 20 times, but the second time I used it, I notice the red rubber from the inner side was falling out of place. I ignored the problem with the red rubber because it had nothing to do with the functionality of the bluetooth and stuffed it back in every time. Probably the forth time when I used the S9, I notice the "M" for Motorola fell off(probably because of cheap glue), not to mention the red rubber keeping falling out every time. Then, on the tenth time, I noticed a battery problem when I no longer can charge over night and the battery drain itself as soon a I unplug from charging. From then on, I have to use the S9 right after charging, instead of charging it a day ahead. On the twentieth day, when I was wearing the bluetooth, all of a sudden the whole ear piece pop and fall out. There was no way to put the earpiece back on, because the wire had been disconnected (it seemed they used glue gun). I'm a tech dude, so I know how to keep my gadget new all the time, but never experienced anything of this poor quality.
I hope the product I bought from Ebay is a China replica and not the real stuff, but it look identical to me. Other than its durability and battery life issue, the S9 works perfectly well!
