Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Monster iCarPlay Wireless FM Transmitter with Auto-Scan for iPodCustomer Review: Works like a champ! Summary: 5 Stars
The auto-search really helps out in big cities, like the Houston area where I live. On road trips I had absolutely no problems with channel bleed-over. Of course, with a saturated dial, some distortion may still creep in. However, this is the best product I have used so far to play your iPod through the stereo and charge the unit at the same time. The cable is long enough to be able to hold the iPod close to you to be able to change/locate songs, which was a major dilemma w/ my previous stationary cigarette light based unit. All in all, this is the best product on the market in my opinon, well worth the extra cost of the unit.
Customer Review: A Mixed Bag Summary: 4 Stars
The good news is that it produces a good sound when it finds a clear channel.
On the downside, it is not easy to use while driving as it does not seem to work consistently. You must watch the display and do something quickly before the menu changes. Better to park and deal with it.
Also, sometimes it says it is scanning for new stations, but it finds the same frequencies it had before - even if they are noisy. Then you either have to scan again or choose another one of the 3 chosen frequencies.
How much nicer if it had fewer options: Find me a clear frequency and tell me what it is.
Customer Review: First Time Was a Winner Summary: 5 Stars
This was my first purchase for this type of product (FM Transmitter)for a newly acquired iPod Video 60 GB. Based on many inquiries with other owners of transmitters (7 other brands and models), my initial expectations were very low. This product performed stellar from the very first use (June 07)to date. Follow the simple instructions exactly and creat an FM preset (have not had to change the original yet). Road trip in August through 6 states may provide an opportunity to use the seek button. The price SRP $99 seemed high, but it has consistently delivered clear reproduction of the music on the iPod.
Customer Review: Bummed out about this transmitter Summary: 2 Stars
We bought this transmitter for close to $100 after trying out a cheap Belkin model that didn't work well. We thought that you get what you pay for, so it was time to pony up. I'll agree with other negative reviews about the reception being bad, and since I'm usually using this when traveling across the state, it would be nice if the change-station function was more user friendly. But worst of all for me is that I now have an iTouch, which will not display the station on the screen. It still works, but changing stations on the transmitter and making sure the radio correlates is close to impossible.
Customer Review: Cuts out and background static!!! Summary: 1 Stars
I am returning this product because lack of quality sound output. There is a lot of static in the background when the songs are at low volume and when the music is paused, and when the units low signal strength gets lost the sterio will play horrible static that is twice as loud as the music that was being playing. I used the auto scans prefered "stations", but they did not work any better than the manualy selected ones. The buttons on the unit are not repeatably responsive, meaning they would not work all of the time. I was expecting a much higher quality product from Monster Cable!!!!
