Customer Review: not for an audiophile
Summary: 1 Stars

Monster A IP FM-CH 200 iCarPlay Wireless FM Transmitter for iPod w/ Auto-Scan Hey: My wife bought me a Nano Ipod for Christmas and I didn't think I would like it but it turns out that having the ability to put 150 CDs on this little machine is awesome. I listen to most of my music in my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My wife also gave me one of the cassette machines that allows the ipod to transmit into my car stereo reciever. I did not like the click and clack sound that the cassette made and bought a Monster Cable ipod transmitter and have found it more aggravating than the cassette. I live 90 miles from Atlanta and cannot find a station that is clean enough to play the ipod on that does not interfere with the monster machine. I have gone back to the cassette. If you really love music but have an older vehicle, then go ahead and buy a new car reciever that has a USB port because otherwise you are going to be unhapphy. I really, really wish I had my money back on the monster cable interface transmitter. Charles W. Ellis

Customer Review: A good FM transmitter for iPods
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a good product which when used with our iPod (2nd generation iPod nano) in Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee has done its job well. The built in frequency scanner is easy to operate and works well in finding a clear frequency to use. Used in conjunction with our Honda radios the sound quality is good and free from static. The display of the iPod nano is used as the display for the transmitter, which is neat. When using this unit you do have to turn the car radio up louder than when listening to the radio so if/when a radio station cuts in/overrides the transmitter the volume of the station is quite a bit louder than whatever you were listening to on the iPod. This can be anoying but this is the only drawback we have experienced with this transmitter. As with all FM transmitters the more built up the area the more you are likely to have to re-scan but so far this unit has always found a frequency it can use. Note, it will not work with the iPod Touch (if it worked with the iPod touch it would deserve 4 1/2 stars).

Customer Review: Monster iCarPlay Wireless 200
Summary: 4 Stars

TheMonster A IP FM-CH 200 iCarPlay Wireless FM Transmitter for iPod w/ Auto-Scan works great on the road or in a large metro area. I bought it for a 6-hour drive to NC at Christmas and was completely satisfied with the reception and the auto-scan feature is sweet. Its easy to use. I can recommend it and give it 4 stars. Why not 5 stars you might ask? Well its because I believe Monster could have made the plug a bit slimmer and streamlined which would make it fit better into the power outlet in most cars that come with attached outlet covers. I previously tried the Monster iCarPlay Wireless Plus FM Transmitter/Charger for iPod which had good reception but didn't have the auto-scan. It was too distracting to change while driving because you had to look at the read-out to change the station.

Customer Review: Random cutoff's blast you with static!!
Summary: 2 Stars

While listening to my iPod the unit will cut off, and I am blasted by static from the station that I am tuned to. I have only intermittently been able to reset the unit using the button; most often I have to unplug the power adapter from the car and plug it back in before it will reset.

Caveta: This is my first transmitter purchase so I don't know if the behavior is normal to transmitters or if my area (Honolulu) is prone to this problem. But regardless, the fact is that this unit cuts off completely, blasts me with static (loudly) since the volume has to be turned up louder than a regular FM station would be.

I would not recommend this product. The auto-scan feature is gimmicky and the sequence for setting the menu presets is non-intuitive (i.e. press a button, press another button, hold one down for 3 seconds, press another button). There's only 3 buttons and I couldn't remember the sequence, no matter how hard I have tried.

Customer Review: For the $$ you'd think it'd be almost perfect, but it's not even close.
Summary: 2 Stars

I got this as a gift last year for my Ipod Classic Video 30GB so I'm so relieved that I didn't waste my own $100. I live in the metro nyc area and would love to use this everyday but it's not worth the headache.

This only has 3 buttons, so why is it so hard to use!!! The autoscan takes minutes, not seconds, to go thru the entire radio network and ends up picking the same 3 stations all the time. When I press the main button sometimes it scans, sometimes it picks a station, and sometimes it just does nothing. During songs, I hear blasts of static. Sometimes the Monster turns off and then then I'm listening to the radio station. I also need to hold the ipod up by the steering wheel while I'm driving otherwise it gets even worse reception. I know my cheap new corolla's radio is partially to blame but the Monster cable should work well enough to make listening to my ipod in the car a pleasant experience but it doesnt.
