Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Monster TV CLNKIT Alcohol-Free ScreenClean Kit [Traditional Packaging]Customer Review: Not so fast my friend Summary: 2 Stars
After reading all of the reviews I thought man, I have to get me some of this. Well I did and my personal experience isn't that good.
Tried it on my 50" plasma and initially it seemed to work pretty well, but as I looked closely at a reflection in the plasma glass I saw streaks! So, I got a flashlight and looked over the entire display and sure enough, there were streaks all over. Now I'm not one to just slap some cleaner on and a couple of swipes and I'm done. I meticulously polish the screen.
Started over doing a very small section, applying cleaner to cloth, spreading on display, turning cloth to dry area, polish, polish polish - still streaks. Mind you I'm doing this with a flashlight in hand, so every little flaw is visible.
I found that the only way to prevent streaks is to continue working the damp cloth on th display until it less damp, then turn to the dry area for polishing. Which brings me to another problem ...
After doing the above, I noticed literally hundreds of little fibers on the display, with some seemingly stuck to the screen to where i had to rub harder than i would like to get them off. Even still when i did that there were more fibers. Again, did this with a flashlight.
Lastly, After getting everything seemingly good to go, I did a follow up inspection the day after i cleaned the display with this product and noticed what appeared to be a subtle film on the glass. I took a cloth and wiped it off easily, but darn if it didn't come back in a short while. It looked like some type of mild condensation. Again this was with a flashlight in hand.
After all of this, I went back to my old Mirachem Optix cleaner and a true microfiber cloth (the tighter weave type that is used for lens cleaning). I did one half of the display only and left the other side as it was from the Monster cleaner. After several hours I went to inspect it once again and there was the haze on the Monster side, but the side I sued my old cleaner on was clear. When I say haze, it's not noticeable without the flashlight, so most folks wouldn't see it, but with a flashlight it is obvious, particularly on the black band around the actual viewing area.
I haven't tried this product on my LCDs and it may work great on the plastic surface, as opposed to the glass of the plasma. For me, it's just not worth it. Get a good flashlight and check for yourself ...or don't and you'll never know that it isn't perfect.
Customer Review: Streaks won't go away, right? Here's some advice... Summary: 1 Stars
My experience using this product on my Samsung LN52A650 was a complete nightmare. I contacted Samsung directly for a suggested cleaning method, and Monster's ScreenClean was their only authorized recommendation. Yet, I had the same problems others are describing: the streaks wouldn't go away! After several attempts over a week-long period, my display became a streaky, foggy mess! And to make matters worse, the streaks had that greasy, filmy rainbow tint that you often see when oil's on water. As a result, I seriously began to think my display was reacting badly with the solution. However, I was eventually able to get the streaks down to a minimum by continuously wiping and wiping and wiping. I don't see them at all now.
My advice for those experiencing this same problem: think of it more like you're polishing the screen rather than cleaning it. Focus on specific sections, and keep your polishing as focused as possible to avoid overlapping into areas already completed. Also, the customer service rep at Monster was very attentive and mentioned that the cleansing ingredients may separate over time... so be sure to vigorously shake the solution before applying it to the cleaning cloth. That may or may not help. But honestly, I thought I was going to have a heart attack at the possibility of a $20 cleaner destroying my $2000 TV... And the worst part is, it really didn't even need to be cleaned in the first place.
However in all fairness to Monster, aside from the difficulty in removing the streaks, my screen now looks crisp and clean. I haven't yet found or tried another product. But I can tell you this, my screen will have to get pretty dirty before I attempt to clean it using this method again.
Customer Review: It's OK, nothing outstanding about it, just be careful with instructions Summary: 3 Stars
So far it's cleaned my LCD screens no better or worse than Windex cleans window glass. Of course I also read the pro and con reviews here, so I was careful to start with a very small amount - only two or three squirts on the pad to clean a 32" LCD screen. Per the instructions, I was careful to use a dry section of the cloth to completely dry the screen. There were no obvious streaks when I had finished and I haven't noticed any in the two or three hours of TV viewing since.
There is a contradiction in the instructions that may have some bearing on the streaking problems reported by other users. The instructions on the package say that the cleaner can be sprayed either directly on the display or on the supplied pad. There is an insert, however, that says the product must be sprayed on the pad - "DO NOT spray ScreenClean directly on your display". That emphasis with caps is quite different from what the instructions on the package say.
This is why I gave the product only 3 stars instead of the 4 I normally give for something that's OK and works as advertised. Clearly some of the instructions are misleading, but which ones? And if the cleaner is used the wrong way, will there be streaking, or worse? In addition, contradictory documentation like this makes me wonder about some of the other things written on the packaging - such as "alcohol and ammonia free." How should I know if this is true or not? I already know that something is wrong with some of the instructions.
For myself, I can keep using the product the way it works for me with no problems. You might have that kind of luck with it too.

Customer Review: SAVE YOUR MONEY - BUY DISTILLED WATER Summary: 1 Stars
Full disclosure....I haven't purchased this product, but did buy a different screen cleaner. Because of my experience and others who've had the same problems with this cleaner, I thought I should share what I've learned.
The cleaner I purchased left a film & streaks on my TV and it didn't remove the fingerprints on the piano black bezel. I then found this information on Samsung's website, under the Q&A section for my TV, model LN46B630 with a matte screen: "Although there are a number of cleaning products on the market that say they are "Safe" for LCD/Plasma panel usage, I recommend just using plain old purified water without any minerals and a non-abrasive cloth. Purified water with out minerals will also prevent any mineral deposits to collect on the screen. -MrSamsung".
I've now cleaned my TV (matte screen) & laptops (glossy screen) with purified water w/o minerals, which is just distilled water and is under $1.00 for a gallon. I sprayed the water on the microfiber cloth that came with the kit I purchased, not directly onto the TV. It removed the film & streaks left by the cleaner I bought, without having to endlessly 'polish' and worry that I'm damaging the screen, and cleaned the finger prints from the piano black bezel, which my 'cleaner' failed to do...save your money and get the best cleaner: distilled water!!!!
Customer Review: Don't over-use Summary: 5 Stars
I, like many others, was also skeptical about buying something other than just using distilled water and alcohol, but I wanted to really make sure my 46" Sony Bravia LCD was cleaned as purely as possible.
This product does work, you just have to use it properly. I used a very slightly damp cloth and ONE spray of the cleaner, and was able to clean 1/3 of the TV. By going over it with a dry cloth after in some of the first spots I applied the cleaner, any signs of streakiness disappeared. I then used a different part of the cloth, ONE spray again, and repeated this for the last 2/3 of the TV. It may seem like one spray wouldn't do it, and I was tempted to use two sprays, but two sprays can leave a little bit of a streak if you then don't dry it with another cloth well enough after (This happened when I first tried it on my computer, but i was able to remove ALL streaks).
Stick to one spray and light circular movements. This product does work, and it will last you forever. Just don't over-do it, and trust that the littlest bit can go a long way. I'm a 21 year old college student, so want to make sure I'm really caring for such an expensive TV purchase I made myself. It's now one week later, and it would appear dust hasn't even landed on the TV since applying the cleaner. Definitely the way to go.
