This is an over priced cable. I fould OXYGEN-FREE-COPPER wire by philips for half the price here 100' Better PHILIPS speaker wire
Monster wire does not have the above standard.
The better sound quality is from
1. Source and Connection type (ex.DVD/CD player connected via optical to recevier vs connected thru RCA cables)

I just received this cable. Cable looks good, but don't have any performance based feedback at the point.
However... Amazon has started using this new shipping carrier.... Ensenda. I guess Ensenda uses some local shippers or something... they come in an unmarked vehicle and very unprofessional service.
The person who came to deliver ethernet cable that I purchased... rang a doorbell than knocked on door vigorously also tried the door knob... very scary. If I have a way to know the carrier before purchase, I would not buy that item even for free.
Also the person who came to deliver this speaker cable, came to door, rang doorbell and ran (literally) to his unmarked vehicle, very suspicious.

I wanted to rewire my surround system and not have the wires all over the room, but the wires that came with the system weren't long enough, so I gave this a chance. I didn't really expect to hear a difference. Once I finished rewiring, I put the system on with a DVD (LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring) and was amazed that the system actually sounded better. I thought it was just me, so I called my wife and asked her to see if the speakers are working properly without telling her that I heard a difference. Her first comment was that the system sounds much better than before (I did buy the Monster Cable THX-GP 20-Pack Standard THX-Certified Gold-Plated Speaker Connectors with this, but I dont know if that makes a difference or not)Customer Review: Good Cable

Like many others have said, you pay a bit of a premium for Monster cable and it's very questionable whether there is any better quality or not. I bought this cable anyway dispite it being a bit more than standard speaker cable. The construction is good and 100ft was perfect for the room i was wiring up (5.1 surround). I was able to write on one side of the cable with a sharpie as it's nearly flat(which was nice in my situation). I will buy it again because to be honest, your audio setup is only as good as the least expensive part and if crappy cable is it, then you might notice it in the sound quality. I didn't want to take a chance and purchased the monster cable. Overall very happy with the product.Customer Review: One of the best speaker wires!

You can't go wrong with Monster's quality. No need to buy the "Ultra" or "Deluxe" versions which are way too expensive, this "Standard" version is really good too.
The main thing in speaker wires is the gauge (i.e. thickness). The thicker the wire the better it is. This is 16 gauge so it retains excellent sound quality even over long distances such as 40-50 feet from the Receiver.
Acoustics Research makes good 16 gauge wires too but they are hard to find. Monster is a bit expensive but due to its popularity is widely available and if you are lucky may find it on sale too!
