Add family members with about 3 devices each and you really need this power strip in a hotel.
I both loved and hated the light that lets you know if your devices are getting power. In some european hotels you use the keycard to turn power on in the room but some rooms would continue to power the devices once plugged in (I didn't quite figure that out but that's why I liked the light.) It is however fairly bright so if you like it completely dark when you sleep but still want to charge your devices you might want to bring something to cover up the light. I opened my laptop and pushed it up close to the light but would have rather had some electrical tape to cover it each night.
Or better yet if the company could make a small swing arm cap for the light (seriously - I would LOVE this addition! So I could see the light when I wanted but could sleep in complete darkness which is one of the things I love about hotel rooms.)
Love the compact design that stores the cord. Easy and small to pack.
It is not a surge protector but I'm fine with that. My Belkin F9H220-TVL surge protector wasn't the correct voltage and shorted out an entire floor of the hotel in Paris (the one thing I forgot to check the voltage on.) I would recommend the Belkin surge protector in combination with this for US travel though.
