Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Monster MC 1000HD-2M Ultra-High Speed HDTV HDMI Cable (2 meters)

Customer Review: Hate to admit it
Summary: 5 Stars

I just purchased a Samsung LN-T4669F HD set. I bit the bullet on the 1000HD even though I saw the reviews that felt the cable was not worth the cost. I initially used the component R/G/B cables from my HD cable box and was not at all happy with the picture quality. I plugged this in and was amazed by the quality of the picture. I know the 2 cables don't compare in picture quality performance HDMI wins hands down. Afterwards I purchased a DVD recorder that upconverts to 1080p, and it came with a HDMI cable. I plugged in the one that came with the unit and was not at all happy with the picture. I purchased the 700HD cable this time around and once again was happier with the quality. I'm not thrilled at what these cables did to my wallet, but as far as I'm concerned, Monster makes a very fine product.

Customer Review: Cables do Make a Difference
Summary: 5 Stars

Sorry to burst other reviews; however, quality cables do make a difference. I have a 52" 1080 120HZ screen with an upper mid-range sound system. I replaced the recommend HDMI cables I purchased with the system that were rated for my system (one step down from these cables). I witnessed an immediate upgrade in the picture quality. I ran a side by side test for my neighbor and switched between cables and he even saw the difference. The 1000HD cables are great, just shop around for the best price. FYI, I do have an engineering degree and cable diameter, connector grade, and manufacturing methods can make a difference. It just depends on the application whether the upgrade in cabling is necessary. I would not buy this cable for a low to mid-grade system (720P, or screens with refresh rates less than 120HZ).

Customer Review: Clearer than looking at.....
Summary: 2 Stars

These cables are VERY expensive...period. Not just comparing them to other cables that do the same thing for $85.00 less, but comparing them to anything. $100.00 is a lot of money, still these days. And they (the cables) don't work. They provide a digital picture but they don't show a sharper, more colorful lifelike image. They look just like the $10.00 set. So if I'm spending $85.00 or $90.00 more on them, what am I getting for the extra money? Nothing. I'm spending more for no more. That translates to "them doing nothing. What does all this mean? They are a waste of money and you'll have to do without 50 gallons of gas or no renting movies to watch. It's even so bad that when they hit you for the HDMI 1.4 or 1.5 you won't have the money for them cause these cost you too much and now you're broke.

Customer Review: There *IS* a difference. Worth it!
Summary: 5 Stars

The reviews who say that Monster cables are overpriced are somewhat right, but the price is WORTH IT if you have an HDTV. I upgraded from high-gauge cheap HDMI cables and could immediately see the difference on my 1080p TV. I have a Samsung 46" 120hz television and the picture is clearer and smoother. I think those of you who don't "see" the difference must have lower end televisions. Don't believe me? Take a cheap HDMI cable and plug it into your Blu-ray drive or HD cable receiver and watch a few scene and take note of the edges on people's faces. Then switch to a Monster. You will notice a CLEAR difference and smoother picture. Again, you might need a high-end HDTV to see it.

All in all, I'm happy with my purchase and can say that Monster cables are worth the price.

Customer Review: Price Vs Performance
Summary: 3 Stars

Honestly, anyone buying HDMI cables of this length for over $30 are being ripped off.

It's a marketing game. They ride the wave and milk it as much as they can. Each day, hundreds of people fall for this. Local stores take advantage of this like crazy and sell 2-ft cables for $70+. Heck, even DVI and VGA cables - even component/composite cables are still overpriced! As long as a few people keep falling for it, those prices aren't changing any time soon.

All I have left to say is that it's your money. If you feel like paying 900% (Yes, nine-hundred percent) more than its actual value, go for it.

If you wish to spend wisely, Amazon is selling DVI-Gear's HDMI 6-ft cables for $1.32, and they WORK JUST AS WELL.
