Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Monster MC 1000HD-2M Ultra-High Speed HDTV HDMI Cable (2 meters)

Customer Review: Massively overpriced, unethical company, somewhat shoddy.
Summary: 1 Stars

I've worked around professional audio for 20 years, though I'm a software engineer.

Monster Cables are massively, massively overpriced. There's no evidence whatsoever that they work better than cables half the price or even less. You will never see these in a professional studio except if someone was stuck.

They seem professional quality - if overpriced - but I've twice had cable failures, admittedly over many years - but then no other brand, even cheap ones like Hosa, has had two failures. (BTW, Hosa make fine and very cheap cables, definitely worth a look for semi-pro applications where you're price sensitive, like a home studio.)

And the company are serious, serious scumbags, they sue anyone over anything. I hate legal thugs.

Save your money. Most name brands of cables these days are at least as good quality as Monster and much cheaper.

Customer Review: This delivers!
Summary: 5 Stars

As a man who constructs telegraph networks for a living, I like to think I know a little 'bit' about cables, and I'm here to tell you that these Monster HDMI cables work flawlessly! Believe you me, when it comes to dits and dahs, there's no room for noise!

Each and every bit of data that these cables transmit experience Dubai-esque luxury as it is personally palanquined from your hi-def source of choice to the visual banquet. I know I have never seen discrete signals this pampered!

So when it comes time to choose between mere 'conductors' and a personal Pullman sleeping car attendant for your 1080 train, I think we both know that shameful waffling and womanish indecision must yield to the clean cut of a decisive answer!

Customer Review: Great value and service!
Summary: 5 Stars

I read the reviews for this type of cable. Many of them out said that it really didn't matter which cable you used as long as it's an HDMI. They say that the TV still works and you can't tell the difference and if the cable goes bad you can just buy another $10 cheapy. Well, I'm not a pro and I have nothing to compare it to but I do have a good eye for quality. The product is finely crafted and looks sturdy and high tech when compared to the $10 specials. I would definately recommend buying an ultrahigh speed cable. Why would you spend $1000-$2000 for a super nice TV and then go and spend peanuts on an integral part of your audio-visual setup? It's like buying a Porsche and putting cheap Chineses tires on it; the car still drives...but it just makes no sense!
On the other hand I got a great price and received the cable in less than a week. Great job on keeping customers happy!

Customer Review: SNAKE OIL
Summary: 1 Stars

I challenge anyone who thinks Monster brand cables are superior to those offered by Monoprice or any other reputable cable maker to explain to me how a digital signal (by definition lossless) can be BETTER over one cable than another.

Do a google search for "Do Coat Hangers Sound As Good Monster Cables?"

You'll be amazed to learn that Monster cables are simply the biggest rip off since the inception of HD programing. Yucks and Huxters at bigbox stores push them for one reason only: the massive 95% markup. They WILL NOT give you a better picture, better sound, or better anything at all. What they will do is lighten your wallet.

Unless you enjoy starting fires with $20 bills, skip the marketing hype and buy yourself a reasonably priced cable. As long as it is HDMI 1.3 and has 10GB throughput you will be fine.

Customer Review: As good an investment as a jewel-encrusted USB flash drive
Summary: 1 Stars

Spending multiple hundreds of dollars on an HDMI cable to carry a digital signal from your video player to your TV and expecting to see a better picture quality than what you can get from a $6 cable is like spending thousands of dollars on a solid gold USB flash drive inset with diamonds to walk your .JPG files over to Walgreens and expecting this to help you obtain more vivid and lifelike 3x5 prints.

The digital content in an HDMI cable does not change between the video player and the TV any more than the .JPG file changes from the time you copy it from your computer onto the flash drive to the time you copy it over to the print kiosk at Walgreens. Anyone telling you otherwise is trying to bilk you out of your hard-earned money, or is trying to convince themselves that they weren't imbeciles for wasting theirs.
