Customer Review: Strictly for people with more money than sense
Summary: 1 Stars

There are people who know nothing about Home Theater,
some (like me) who know enough to get by, and some real experts.
Manufacturers who prey on those with enough money to "want the best" without knowing what they are getting are borderline criminals.
And those who have reviewed this item with 5 stars want their heads examined.

Look at the exceptional cut away diagram for example,
the exquisite Duraflex jacketing,
the craftsmanship,
the layers of engineering.
Hogwash!

Even technical engineers (on this site reviewing) agree that a cable, is a cable IS A CABLE! if you're worried about the cables breaking buy spares. I have 5 HDMI cables on my home setup at the moment
1)Blu Ray
2)HDDVD
3)Oppo Region Free DVD
4)Cable Receiver
5) Cable from receiver to TV
Total cost for ALL 5 cables = under $25
$129 for a single HDMI cable is ridiculous, don't encourage these unscrupulous sellers!

Customer Review: Just not needed...
Summary: 1 Stars

There's no need for "shielding" and all these nonsense specs in an HDMI cable. It's a digital signal. Analog signals need shielding, heavier gauge copper for long runs, etc. Digital does not.

I bought the cheapest one at Monoprice, the cheapest one on Amazon, and compared to a friend's Monster there's no difference. His whole rig uses Monster cables for video, so we swapped for a week. I used one on my PS3 and one on my 37" 1080p HDTV from my cable box (SA8300HD) and there is absolutely no difference, with the same monitor/PS3/cable-box with the dirt-cheap cables vs. Monster. NONE. He agreed completely, although it's too late for him to send his back. He's got them up on a popular auction site now to try and recoup some of his lost investment.

Don't buy this. It's not necessary, will not improve your video or audio, and is simply overkill for a digital signal that either works or doesn't, with no loss in quality amongst differing cables.

Customer Review: Buyer Beware - RIP OFF
Summary: 1 Stars

Monster has all these cute explanations on why their cables are better. It's a rip off. Do youself a favor and buy these cables 6-Foot Gold-Plated HDMI v1.3b CAT 2 Cable Male to Male for HD HDTV High Definition Digital Multimedia Audio / Video (Retail, RoHS, UL Compliant) . THese cables cost $1.55 plus shipping for a total of less than $5 per cable and work just as good as these rip off cables. My friend INSISTED on buying these cables...he fell for the marketing scam. We tested them on my 46" Sharp Aquos D85 with my PS3. NO DIFFERENCE...read it again...NO DIFFERENCE. He insisted his were better. Fine, so we call my brother, sister and 3 of our neighbors. No one noticed a difference. And we never told them which cable signal they were viewing. Don't become a victim of these rip-off experts!!! And save yourself that money for some PS3 games or some awesome blu-ray movies.

Customer Review: Total rip-off.
Summary: 1 Stars

When I finally took the plunge into HD and bought a nice LCD HDTV and a PS3 to play games and Blu-Rays on, one of the geeks at Best Buy talked me into buying these Monster HDMI cables to go with it. I didn't know any better at the time, unfortunately.

Upon setting up my new equipment, everything looked great, I was pleased. A few days later, I switched from cable to DirecTV. The DirecTV HD-DVR box came with a generic HDMI cable - I figured I was going to have to shell out another $100 for a quality cable, until I hooked it up. The generic cable gave me a flawless picture. Unwillingly to believe I'd wasted over $200 on cables, I switched my Monster cable for the generic - it looked EXACTLY the same. Still unwilling to believe I'd been hoodwinked, I switched the Monster HDMI going to my PS3 for the generic and compared the data transfer rates - the generic was actually faster.

In the end, I am $200 poorer and a whole lot wiser.

Customer Review: Expensive, great construction, is it worth it? It depends...
Summary: 4 Stars

Yes, these are expensive cables. The main selling point, in my opinion, of Monster brand cables is the excellent construction quality. I have Monster Cables that are several years old, and they are just as supple and oxidation-free as when I first bought them. There are some reviews saying there is no noticeable difference, but it depends what type of system you plan to use them with. For latest-generation TVs with LCD refresh rate 240Hz, 1080p resolution, LED TVs, OLED TVs, and Blue-Ray, these cables are probably over the top of what you need. However, what I like to do is buy a top-of-the-line cable that has very high transmission bandwidth capability so I don't have to buy a new cable in the future (e.g., 3D TVs). When the next HDMI format comes out, these cables will be up to the task. One thing is for sure, though. I will never buy Monster Cables in a retail store; I find them much cheaper on-line.
