Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Monster HTS 3600 MKII 10-Outlet Power Center with Stage 3 Clean PowerCustomer Review: Customer Service Summary: 5 StarsI had an older version of this model. Plugged into it were the following components: Pioneer Kuro 60 plasma, Sony PS3, Pioneer Elite A/V receiver, Pioneer Elite DVD player, Denon CD player. Windstorm knocked out power. When electric company re-connected power, big power surge came into the house. The Monster Power unit stepped in front of it and took the hit. Destroyed the unit. But all components were undamaged. Called Monster Power to see if I could send it in to be fixed. Instead, they simply asked if the unit was less than five years old (it was 18 months old). They gave me a return authorization. Sent it in. One week later, received new HTS3600MKS II. Newer model and more expensive than the original. Would a less expensive "surge protector" have done the same thing? Maybe. Do I fully understand all the benefits of "clean power" that is promised from Monster? Not really. But they stood behind their product, replaced it without complaint or hassle. All I know is that it saved thousand of dollars of A/V equipment. Based on my experience, if you spend the extra $$$ on Monster Power, you will get a peace of mind that your expensive A/V equipment is protected by a company that understands customer service.
Customer Review: Peace of mind Summary: 5 StarsI purchased this Monster product from Amazon at the same time I bought the Samsung BD-P2500 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player, and also knowing that I'd be purchasing a new LCD television and home theater system within a few days. With the amount of money I was investing all at once, it made it much easier to go with this power strip instead of another - what's another 100 bucks or so when I'm already in so deep? But I do know that if I'd been offered this product in a big box store for $500, I'd have turned it down and bought something less. I just can't convince myself that I should pay more for a power strip than for one of the components it's supposed to protect.
Still, my house is 100 years old, and the wiring is a little suspect, so I wanted something that I could be reasonably sure of protecting my investment. There are two questions as I see it that need to be asked when considering this device: Is it overpriced, and does the 'clean power' make a difference?.
As I said before, I would never have bought this at Monster's retail price. When I did buy, the Amazon price was around 220. I originally had been looking at some other Monster products around 100, but after reading up on the reviews and suggestions by others, I finally went with this one, mostly because of the 'clean power' touted by some buyers and the company itself. Did I overpay? I don't really care, at this price. Any decent power strip was going to be 50-100 dollars. But the main thing is I don't have any worries when I have everything going at the brightness and volume levels I want. I can see exactly how much power the system is pulling through the wiring with the amp meter, and I feel confident that if there's any type of surge, the system is protected.
The second question is about the 'clean power', and here I don't have anything conclusive to say about it one way or the other. This power strip was one of the last things to arrive out of all the components, so I had the television and the surround sound hooked up to a cheap surge protector (the kind you buy at Wal-Mart for 20 bucks or less) for a couple days. I can honestly say that I didn't notice any difference when the Mark II was hooked up later. I'm not saying there wasn't a difference, just that I didn't notice one.
Other than that, I've not noticed any noise or buzzing or any other disturbance associated with this unit. One last thing - and this is really minor - but I do like the appearance of the unit, and that all the cords plug into the back so they can stay hidden. I certainly wouldn't have paid the price just on looks alone, but since I was getting it anyway, I like that it looks like just another component of the whole system.
Customer Review: Nice Power Center Summary: 5 StarsI bought this power center over a year ago for twice the price and was happy with it then. So when I saw the selling price now, I grabbed it for a friend. Simple to set up and use, and it really works. Our house has been hit by lightning and our alarm system fried. We home theater was untouched. We also had a brown out, and the system shot down due to the drop in voltage. I have never bought a Monster product that dissappointed me, including this one.
Customer Review: Need Clean Power Summary: 3 Starsfor a couple of hundreds of dollar more it worth protecting your Home Theatre System. It provides clean power to your Home Theatre System.
Customer Review: Good Selection Summary: 4 StarsThe Monster Home Theater HTS 3600 MKII works as specified and has been installed on my system for approx a month. The only issue that I ran into with this unit was that running the cable directly into it did block some of my cable companines delivered content. I bi passed running the comcast feed through the unit and everything is working fine. This unit was easy to install and came with extra cords and cables and detailed instructions. All in all a good vaue for the money
