The manufacturers (not Amazon) positioning of this product as a solution to the fact that HTIB systems do not come with wire connectors and that using bare wire will ultimately lead to oxidation (corrosion) of the speaker leads and over time that this will cause connectivity challenges for your home theater speakers suggested (to me) that this product was in the class of an easy to use, out of the box REMEDY: Minus One Star
If you are looking for an easy to use out of the box wire connectors then keep shopping.... This product does not fit that description. However, if you have some electrical skills (know how to solder) and don't mind keeping the connector rubber boots in place with some electrical tape then this product will provide a high value (The price is right) solution for speaker connectors.
As other reviewers have stated crimping these connectors onto the speaker wires does NOT solve the wire oxidation problem... now the wire will oxidize inside of the crimped on connector instead of the speaker terminal post.
If you use a hot (735 F) solder iron, appropriate solder flux, and flow the solder up the lead into the connector you will not only solve the oxidation problem you will create a high quality (gold plated) connection between the speaker wire and the speakers terminal post. All that is left is to slide the rubber (THX color coded) connector boot over the lead and then tape it into place to hold it (use electrical tape). The connector boot will NOT stay in place without some mechanical help (You could also use small pieces of heat shrink electrical tubing instead of electrical tape).
I will admit that I was highly frustrated simply because the connectors have NO instructions included (How the manufacturer thinks this is close to acceptable I will never know). Fortunately, the Amazon customer reviews provide insight although I would strongly advocate staying away from "crimping on" any connectors where your concern is speaker wire oxidation.
The connectors are solid & high quality.... the packaging and marketing are as close to product misrepresentation as the law will allow (Both Monster and THX should be more concerned about tarnishing their brand and FIX the packaging and marketing immediately).
I am an electrical engineer & soldering on connectors is something I am very familiar with. If this product had been properly labeled and included instructions I would have given this product 5 stars. With the current product description and lack of instructions I think everyone deserves to know what they are contemplating purchasing which is how I arrived at the One Star assessment.
