Customer Review: Sheilding makes all the difference

I tried three different component video cables to hook my DVD player to my HDTV: standard RCA composite video cables, Sony component video cables, and Monster component video cables. Everything but the Monster component video cables gave me a garbled picture or no picture at all. The Monster component vide cables gave me a beautiful clear picture.
I discovered the problem - if you run a component video cable next to any other type of cable (such as a power cable, stereo speaker cable, etc...), the other cables interfere with the component video cable. Only the Monster cables have enough shielding to overcome the interference.
So if you can run your component video cables completely separate from all other cables, then you can probably use a cheaper component video cable and get a great picture. However, if your setup is like mine and all of your cables run together through the same hole in the back of your entertainment center, you need a Monster cable to overcome the interference.

After considerable on-line research, I bought these Monster component cables for our new HDTV (a Sony LCD). I first connected them from our DVD player to the TV but couldn't see any noticeable improvement over the component cables provided by Comcast (when we ordered the HD cable box). I next connected the Monster cables from the HD cable box to the HDTV and again did not see any noticeable improvement over the Comcast component cables. We got a great result with both DVDs and HDTV channels using the Comcast cables. So I ended up returning the Monster cables to Amazon.Customer Review: Excellent R G B Cables

The Monster Cable THX V100 CV-8 Component Video Cables are excellent connectors for DVD to Component inputs on HD and RGB (Red, Green, Blue component) capability TV sets. These cables are durable and deliver the best possible signal to your set. Any TV with Component inputs is going to give you a noticeably better picture than with Composite or S-Video inputs but the edge with these cables is their high-density double shielding and heavy gold plated RCA connectors, delivering a cleaner sand purer signal.

I bought a few sets of these cables for my home theater. I loved the picture they brought to my 50" plasma tv....however, in pursuit of the perfect picture- I also bought a Monster HDMI cable to upgrade a couple months later. Long story short, these component cables produced a better picture than the hdmi cable at 1/5th the price. These cables produced a sharper picture with more vibrant colors than the hdmi. The wife and friends agreed also. You will be happy with the results you get from these cables.Customer Review: Great Cables

Item just as described. Works perfectly and worth every penny. It DOES make a difference on what cables you buy no matter what other people say. The ones that cant see a difference arnt using it on top of the line products. I have a Sony XBR5 and the picture is awesome with these cables. I have tried others that dont look as well, but were cheaper. You get what you pay for. If you are willing to spend $5000+ on a TV then pony up the bucks for the good cables to match.
