Customer Review: Monster iCarPlay Wireless Plus beats Kensington!!!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you're going to buy an FM Transmitter/Car Charger, buy the

MONSTER ICARPLAY WIRELESS PLUS

You'll be very happy with the Monster one...TRUST ME!!!

I bought the Kensington FM Transmitter/Charger and was totally disappointed. Kensington has poor sound quality! All the "S" and "SH" sounds hiss. It's irritating! And the slightest movement of your iPod produces static.

ATTENTION PEOPLE WITH STANDARD CARS!!!
Those with the cigarette lighter right by the stick shift, the Kensington one is NOT for you! Can't shift to first or third with this thing plugged in.

I returned the Kensinton the same day I bought it and exchanged it for the Monster iCarPlay Wireless Plus. Monster is waaaaay better! From the reviews for Kensington, I thought it was the best. I should've taken the advice from a friend and bought the Monster one instead. The Monster one feels better made than the Kensington. But the sound is 100 times better. No hissing sound or static.

Just buy the Monster one!!!

Customer Review: Works great with one gripe
Summary: 4 Stars

This product works just as advertised. I have had great success with it. No complaints about the sound quality. Although I would also recommend that you check the three frequencies that it broadcasts on in the neighborhood that you plan to drive the most. I would recommend it to anyone interested in using their iPod in a car.

I do have one gripe. As you can see from the picture, the little transmitter is in-line between the power connector and the iPod connection. What you can't see is that the iPod side of the cable is very short. The transmitter locks best into an open station the closer it is to your radio. The short side of the cable makes it hard to get the transmitter close to the radio if your dashboard doesn't have a place it rest the iPod. I would like to be able to attach the transmitter to the dash, close to the radio, and leave the iPod sitting on the passenger seat or in a holder on the center console. But the short cable prevents this. However, this issue is easily overlooked since it functions great overall.

Customer Review: It all depends on the car you're using it in
Summary: 4 Stars

I got this transmitter because I'm often in cars without cassette players, and also because I wanted to be able to charge my IPOD on the road. I wanted one that was easy to access even if the power outlet was near the floor and with an infinite range of frequencies that are easy to change, since I live in NYC. This transmitter meets all those requirements.
The reception in my 1998 Mercury Sable is that of a weak FM channel with a considerable amount of crackling. I think it is related to the position of my antenna on the rear of the car. In the Ford Windstar it is better, almost as good as the cassette adapter. The Windstar has the antenna in the front. In my friend's Saab, it's wonderful. The body of the car is the antenna on that one. However, another friend has an Accord where the body is also the antenna, and the reception is not as good. All of the cars have factory-installed radios.
All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase. In my car I use it as a charger and use my cassette adapter for the optimal sound.

Customer Review: Monster Cable iCarPlay
Summary: 4 Stars

This item works as advertised. I bought it specifically because it said it had a trickle charger for the iPod once it is charged that helps extend the battery life. I live in Denver and it is a little difficult to get an 'empty' station.

If I was going to do it over, I think I would have purchased the car charger and FM transmitter separately. Right now, the only use I get out of it is in my car. It would be nice if I could use it for my boombox at home.

The good things are that the display is nice and bright and the instructions are very clear. The instruction manual explicitly states that you are not going to get that same quality in your radio as a station transmitting with a 50000W antennae. Apple's website says that is you have a tape player you should get the tape adaptor instead of the FM transmitter, however my friends say they can hear a constant 'hiss'.

Even though I had bad things to say about it I'm happy with my purchase and it works like I expected it to.

Customer Review: Great little gadget
Summary: 4 Stars

This device is awesome. My wife uses it daily to play her ipod music in the car on the drive to work. It charges the ipod and has 3 buttons that can be set to any FM radio station you choose.

A few observations:

The buttons for the 3 station buttons are very easy to bump, we have on occassion bumped it simply by setting the ipod down. So if the radio stops playing, check the stations. You most likely changed the station uninentionally.

The second observation which is also minor is the power level of the radio adapter. This might be a size restriction, but we have noticed on occassion someone driving by will overpower our transmitter. This can easily be fixed by changing channels but I thought it interesting. I also tested the transmitter vs my satellite radio and the satellite radio won hands down.

All in all this device is good for what it's used for. It plays the ipod songs on your car radio well. If that's what your looking for, no hesitation here.
