Customer Review: Great if you cant directly connect your Ipod
Summary: 4 Stars

Ive been using this for a few weeks now and I am pretty impressed with this transmitter. Since I dont have a way to connect the Ipod directly into my car CD player, this FM transmitter seemed the best way and it was the one that got the best reviews so I gave it a try. I live in Oklahoma City so plenty of the FM frequencies are used but there are some still available. I found though, that a couple I use are actually in use at times, and pretty strongly and that the one from the Monster cable actually overwrote the other stations and I never got bleed over.
My antenna is on the back of my car so I didnt get as good a reception as I got in my girlfriends car whos antenna was right above us. On light songs there is a little bit of static but nothing too bad, the only real problem I had with it was that since my anteenna was at the back, sometimes everything in the way would make the sound straight static for a second until I moved the little controller part to a different location. I have a pioneer CD player and recently found a thing that lets me connect my Ipod to it through AV cables, so Im going to switch to that. But as far as being able to have my whole music library at my fingertips all the time, this is a great device!

Customer Review: Simply the best
Summary: 5 Stars

I've had mine for a month now and I LOVE it. I live in the Detroit area and have no problem finding a station to set it to.
The first weekend I bought this device I used it on a drive from Detroit -> Chicago and it worked great. I had to change the station twice as you move from one area to another.

Note: A lot of people are confusing THIS product with the previous, less expensive Monster Cable iCarPlay Transmitter that has around 8 frequencies. THIS product allows you to pick any frequency on the dial except the lowest two (87.1 and 87.3 I believe).

There are so many pro's:
1. With so many frequencies to choose from, you are likely to find one even in urban areas.
2. It charges your iPod.
3. When you turn your car off it sends a signal that pauses your iPod.

The only con i can think of is:
1. The music is radio quality because its broadcast on an FM frequency, so don't expect it to sound like your $1,000 stereo at home. It shouldn't even matter if your songs are MP3 format because you lose all your high and low end just by having the songs in that format in the first place. So the point is moot for 99 percent of you.

It was money well spent.

Customer Review: Last resort if you live near the city
Summary: 4 Stars

Let me first say this... If you have the option to use a tapedeck to play your Ipod (or cd player) use that instead. I dont have a tapedeck so this was my only option.

I bought this FM transmitter because it seemed like one of the best (and probably is). My problem is that no matter which station I use if there is a really hard hitting bass or kick/bass drum it comes out REALLY bad. Every kick will have a ton of static. I've tried all the channels possible and its the same. I believe this is due to the fact that I live near NYC. The transmitter must be picking up a slight signal from the stations. Im not sure though. Maybe if you live in the boondocks it will work perfect. So basically, if you live near the city, or in the city and listen to hiphop (or any other music with hard hitting drums and bass) do not get this. I really dont think this is a bad product it just depends on your location. If you dont have another option then it does what it does. I never expected CD or even cassette type quality... but the radio sounds a lot better than my ipod. Only get this as a last resort if you live near the city.

Customer Review: Excellent product
Summary: 5 Stars

I've got an ipod for a while, but I was unable to connect it to my car because my car doesn't have a cassette player and I've read other customer reviews that says FM receivers are very unreliable.

Until recently they've got this "plus" version of the icarplay. The new updates are targetting previous users complaints, that means to me that they have and are willing to improve their products. The price was kind of attractive on Amazon too ($52 vs $80 in store).

When I got it, I immediately installed it in my car. I found an empty station and entered it in the unit. It sounded absolutely horrible - so much static and so little audio. I thought I would become one of the victims too. I kept on trying for other stations and I found one that's perfect after 3 tries. I was very impressed by the quality of sound from this little thing.

I'd say it sounds better than cassette players. Of course you can't expect it to give you the sound quality from a regular radio station or a cd player. Once you're on the road, you can't hear much difference because of the background noise.

Customer Review: Some Pros, More Cons!
Summary: 2 Stars

So the concept is great and it can be a very useful device - with 3 progammable frequencies to switch between and the fact that it charges the i-pod at the same time. It is probably no worse than other FM transmitters and it may well be something to do with my car's FM reception and the local area's radio stations...
But, I find myself constantly having to switch frequencies due to static inteference, as I travel around and move through different Northern Virginia areas, especially with quieter music like classical. I also find that cars/trucks/commercial vehicles with "stronger" signals will interfere and "cut-in" and drown out your signal when sitting at stop lights or in traffic.
The Red LED display is extremely difficult to read during daylight.
And finally, if you leave the i-pod plugged in for long periods (days) you can no longer trur the i-pod off without doing a full 'soft' reset.
All in all if you are in an area with pleny of free FM frequencies, low traffic volume, don't travel long distances and are prepared to sacrifice sound qulaity then this device is for you - good luck!
