Customer Review: Reading some of these reviews made me think I'd never be able to listen to my IPOD in my car
Summary: 5 Stars

When you read the reviews for the various FM transmitters and the tape deck converters, you start to think that there is no way to successfully link your IPOD to a car that doesn't have a dock or a Aux plug in.

After reading the reviews I was sure that I was embarking on some sort of a Saga to find the system that would work in my city. I went to a retail store, where the salesman vehimently recommended the Monster Cable product listed here. They didn't have any in stock at that store, and I didn't have time to drive accross town to their other location which had seven in stock. So I went home and saw that it was $20 cheaper on Amazon, so I ordered it.

I was learing about buying it mail order, because I was convinced by the reviewers that it wasn't going to work and I was going to have to return it. (however you do that with Amazon, I don't know)

Anyway, if you read nothing else, read this line: I plugged it in in my car, hooked in the IPOD, picked a random station using the instructions that are attached to the cord (very good place for instructions) and there it was. Crystal clear success on my first attempt. I drove about 30 minutes to the post office and back and never heard a lick of static nor did my signal fade a single time.

At least in Colorado Springs, CO, this product is flawless.

Customer Review: iPod for your car
Summary: 4 Stars

Monster is the premier name in cable for electronics and audio equipment. That said, I live in a nearly satuarated FM market, so there are only one or two frequencies that are "open."

Despite the excessive bleading that occurs and the ungodly atmospheric interference from our fifth heatwave and its accompanying humidity (which causes weaker stations to fade in and out), this product can delver passable to excellent sound quality depending on conditions.

Give serious thought to where you live and where you might use this product. Also give some thought to how powerful your existing car radio antenna is. If it can pull in distant radio signals, you may have some minor problmes with signal blead as well.

Resetting the radio station is easy enough, and probably the most complicated thing you would have to do to cutomize the transmitter.

The charger works as advertised. Sometimes handy for those times I've forgotten to charge up.

I would recommend this product to those who would rather use an iPod rather than carry 60 CD's in their car.

And one more thing, safety first. Set up your iPod before cranking up. Change you mind about what you listen to while waiting for signal changes. If you use polarized sunglasses, you will have trouble seeing your iPod. Enjoy responsibly!

Customer Review: Elegant, one-wire solution for in-car play
Summary: 4 Stars

First off, this item is the iCarPlay Wireless PLUS, which is a better model than the non-plussed version. ;)

This is the most elegant, flexible, and portable solution for in-car play of your iPod yet devised. Sure, the sound quality is not as perfect as you'd find with an inline adapter, but for the money, it does everything you need with a one-wire setup.

I tried a few other FM transmitters before settling on this one, and they were never powerful enough to play through my radio. This one does that handily, and in the New York metro area, where there's as much radio saturation as you are likely to find anywhere, I can find three frequencies that can get me through any drive. [BTW, You don't actually need a "blank" frequency for this transmitter to work... if your car has a really sensitive tuner (as most mid-range cars do these days), just plugging in this device is enough to "trump" whatever's at the selected station. Your results may vary.]

And unlike my aftermarket satellite radio transmitter (also an FM "blaster"), the iCarPlay doesn't put white noise all over your FM and AM dials if you leave it on all the time. So it plays well with others.

Team it with the Belkin TuneDok, and you've got a complete solution, until you get that next car with the integrated iPod player.

Customer Review: I guess its OK
Summary: 3 Stars

With any research its obvious that these FM transmitters aren't exactly hi-fi quality. I found this device to fit that description. It works as good as I expected it to. I can't find a very "clean" radio station in San Diego 'cause most of them are used. But some of the weaker ones can be overpowered until you get too close to their origin then the crackles and pops start to get too annoying.

The device has 3 presets which is adequate I suppose but if your on a road trip and need to test stations the device does not change consecutive stations easily. It requires you to hold down 2 buttons first until it flashes, then you can choose up or down, but then it will lock again. But it is what it is. I found my trip to Los Angeles to be a total loss. The device just does not work in that area, period.

I like how it charges the iPod while it plays. The adapter fit in my '94 Firebird just fine. But I can't let the transmitter fall to the floor or next to the seat or the signal becomes too weak. I shove it in the cup holder. I wish there was something better but I doubt you'll find a better FM transmitter device.

If your looking for an inexpensive way to get iPod tunes into your car this should work. If your looking to replace your CD player with this you should definitely look elsewhere.

Customer Review: Beats the heck out of the iTrip...
Summary: 5 Stars

This beats the heck out of the iTrip. I had the iTrip for a week and then sent it back and ordered this. With the iTrip you had to load every staion on FM frequency with the iTrip installation disk, and it then became part of your playlist so you would actually get blank dead air mixed in when you used shuffle, stupid. And worst of all it didn't even work. I take that back, it did work once but I had to hold it up to the car radio in order to pick up the frequency and it wasn't even clear. So, if you like to drive with both hands as I do, this is just not an option. Also if you live in the big city, like NY good luck trying to find a frequency on FM with only static. I guess if you live in rural Kansas this thing might work but other than that do not get this. GET the Monster Cable iCarPlay it's wonderful and it charges your iPod while you use it. You plug it in to your cars' cigarette lighter or power source and then set a MOSTLY not ALL static staion on your FM dial and set the attached tuner on the iCar to the same frequency and you are listening to your iPod, it's just that easy. I love this thing, it makes my iPod even more enjoyable than it already was. My entire CD collection is in my car at all times without CD's all over my car! If you want to listen to your iPod while driving get this product, you will be very pleased!
